Also corporate welfare. All rent assistance and energy rebates are going to do is drive up the prices.

Exactly the same thing happened with Home Owners Grants; we went from being able to purchase an entry-level house and land for 2 years worth of wages to having to save for 5 years just to have a deposit.

It is almost as if the economists who advise the government don’t understand economics.

If you pay more for a thing, it makes it more expensive, it is Economics 101.

And don’t get me started on the Reserve Bank and interest rates. “People have too much debt; let’s make their current manageable debt into crippling debt so they can’t survive at all! That will stop them from borrowing more money.”

Salvo,
@Salvo@aussie.zone avatar

There are enough people who own rentals who will be running their hands together and grinning maniacally. They have been cranking up their tenants rent to cover their interest rates increases, and now that their tenants are government funded, they can increase rents even more!

Rent assistance claims to be welfare for people who can’t afford to buy their own home, it is actually just welfare for landlords.

The Jimny Wave is a thing, if we see another person driving a Jimny, we wave to each other.

It used to be people in Jeeps would wave, but people who drive Jeeps (an G-Wagons) are all yuppie snobs. Occasionally you will see someone in a 2-door Wranger who isn’t a snob…

Fun fact, if you see someone driving a Jeep Wranger with a spare wheel rim, but no tyre, you will immediately know three things about them.

  1. They have replaced their factory tyre with illegally oversized tyres.
  2. They are idiots who do not understand how reality works.
  3. They are of a certain racial group with a caste-based social structure. Manual labour like changing a wheel when they have a flat tyre is beneath their status.

What is the break point where purchasing the games is cheaper than resubscribing.

Salvo,
@Salvo@aussie.zone avatar

I will purchase and play one game to 100%, or until my RSI starts flaring up. Sometimes, my RSI is so bad that I can’t play a game for several months.

I still have the 1 year of GamePass voucher from when I purchased my XBox One X. The way it is appreciating in value, I could sell it and buy a house!

People want companies to stop trying to exploit them in every little way.

We can be satisfied by respecting us and treating us as customers, even when advertisers are throwing money at them.

Salvo,
@Salvo@aussie.zone avatar

It’s not about the current state of their OS, it is about the corporate attitude to users.

Microsoft are treating users not as valued customers purchasing a product, but as a resource to be manipulated and sold off to the cheapest bidder.

They may have backflipped on actual ads in the Start Menu, purely due to user backlash, but they still have game/app/bullshit recommendations and reinstalled garbage, unless you are a windows sysadmin and know jo to use a Profile Editor.

This explains why the religious nutbags in the ruling class are attempting to bring The End Times,

Some of the technic wing parts are weird to look at, and difficult to differentiate or even figure out which way up. It is a good thing that they are numbered, but even then…

You just know it was a scam to bilk the cookers out of their money…

Considering that Ethnic Palestinians are the original Semites, and most of the Zionist are “repatriated” jewish people from all around the world, I find it ironic that they claim any sleight against them to be antisemitic.

Salvo,
@Salvo@aussie.zone avatar

I think you a both right. Historically, Semites referred to a large cultural group.

Over time, it has become a nonsense word because those cultural groups have become so dilute and diverse that you can’t point at someone and say they are part of that group.

More recently, the label has become misappropriated by some sort of whacky religious nutbaggery so they can oppress other people.

I think there is a lot of normalised domestic abuse.

There are also a lot of overaged boys who still believe that “boys will be boys” is acceptable societal behaviour.

Meanwhile, they are pushing Fixed Mobile on 4G or LTE in place of real fixed Fibre Internet; the incumbents can duopolise the mobile market, but the NBN has levelled the market on fixed Internet, except where the NBN has been sabotaged by the incumbents.

Salvo,

Yes, but the technology doesn’t have as long range.

The higher density signal is able to carry more data at higher speeds, but only for shorter distances.

A loose analogy is the difference between Short Wave radio and Long Wave radio. The BBC World Service can be received around the world, but 3PBS FM can only be received in the inner suburbs of Melbourne.

The local Tesla/Solar service provider is a subsidiary of the Sugar Refining Company (of Blue Sky Mine-Midnight Oil fame).

That probably explains a lot about the quality of service.

It is insane that the installing sparky ran three-phase power to the location but doesn’t bother running some twisted pair for Ethernet at the same time.

We had to fight with the installer to have our Solar Inverter connected to Ethernet, even though there was a cable already in place. Unfortunately we won the fight for the Inverter but lost the fight for the PowerWall.

I know that at least one Manufacturer who is deprioritising warranty claims on “smart” Car Charger wallboxes unless they were connected by Ethernet at the time of installation.

Salvo,
@Salvo@aussie.zone avatar

Yep. Our builder gave the electricians the incorrect plans.

They had to come back to run the electrical extra cables so we had some gaping holes in the plasterboard in the two master bedrooms. That was the least of our problems…

Builders are incompetent.

Don’t get me wrong, the PowerWall has been great for the last 4 years, It is just that the subcontracting technicians didn’t want to do any more work than the bare minimum, even though it was negligible extra effort.

That said, since Musk has severely gone off the rails and still has controlling interest in the Company, I would be hesitant to trust anything that comes out from the North American operations.

The problem is that all the other aftermarket battery backup technologies (that I know about from 3 year old research) are either inferior to the PowerWall in every way, or need to be manufactured bespoke for the Australian market.

There are a lot of Easter-eggs like that in the Icons sets. The Blacksmith and Soldiers in the Blacksmith Cottage 21325 are the same individuals as those in the 3in1 creator castle 31120 (except older). There is also a Couple in some of the City sets with baby who go camping with their son in the 3in1 Creator Caravan 31108.

I love it that in TT Games Lego Jurassic Park, the superpower for Dr Ellie Sattler is that she doesn’t get disgusted with smelly obstacles.
