Go to lemmyverse.net, fill in your instance, and click the links to communities that sound interesting. It’ll open them in your instance and get them federated so your server starts getting those updates.

Congrats on pushing out the update! Liking what I see so far. Can't wait to see what else is in store.

edit: I mentioned this in a separate thread, but I was wondering if we'll also be getting a changelog from yourself or another user? The posts have been very nice to have, but I wouldn't want to impose an unnecessarily large workload onto a single person.

The fediverse does bring me back to a time of simplicity, on the internet, in an age where the internet is in it's own boringdystopia phase. And has been for a while now. I applaud it's concern for privacy and how it handles decentralizing that while it doesn't entirely squash powertripping, it at least regulates it far better than any of the other bigger social media platforms out there does.

I have though, been finding myself yearning for more activity which is a shared complaint among users. Yes, I know that I am the content as are others and it should be my duty to help communities grow. But I also really don't like the sound of my own voice, so I don't really want to just see myself be the only one out there. Got to have wiggle room for others and can't just hog everything.

The fediverse has a ways to go and I quite frankly, don't think I have all of the time in the world to partake in it's growth. I've been online for nearly three decades now, to see it's own growth, it's own rises and it's own falls. My main concerns now is to have a debloated internet experience where the internet doesn't have much of a stranglehold on my life. Social Media as a whole is in of itself, very bloated whether it's fediverse or surface web. There's nothing that hasn't been done that social media promises it can do easier, because it's already been done before.

I just hope the fediverse achieves it's goals, as it's probably some of the few last beacons left in trying to make the internet more digesting and not as corporately sponsored. I'll keep a marker but really I'm just so damn tired of alternatives and social media in general as a whole.

Honestly, more celebration and fun!

Coming out is a big deal, and yes it comes with some big downsides. I do not blame anyone who wants to call attention to their trans status as little as possible. But so many of us have internalized that shame that, even for those if us who wants to celebrate, it isn’t seen as appropriate. That if we revel in our joy of self discovery, we are somehow not taking things seriously. That we are focusing too much on aesthetics and not on the (very real!) politics of simply living.

So go get those spinny skirts and spin until you are dizzy! Make a competition with yourself to fit as many things into your pockets as you can! Get those shirts with pictures of Barbies or dinosaurs or stars and wear them everywhere. Choose a weird nickname, learn to dance however you want, practice signing your new name with hearts and weird squiggles. Replay your favorite video games with characters and choices that reflect the new you and see if anything changes. Dive headfirst into a new hobby or group event that jives with your new expression.

Yes, being trans can suck. Dysphoria sucks, society sucks, and some days are worse than others. But, as someone with chronic illness as well, don’t feel that you have to give in to that pressure of being a walking topic of serious conversation. Have those conversations as needed, but the rest of the time, you deserve to thrive in your own experience.

I've already discussed some of the reasons on Matrix, but today, I'll try to briefly explain what's going on here. Due to the increasing popularity of kbin, infrastructure changes, the cost of maintaining instances, and development-related priorities, I wasn't able to deliver the milestones on time, which are crucial for project funding (even though I'm really close to achieving that). I wasn't prepared for this and didn't anticipate such a delay in terms of the savings I allocated for all of this. The servers are still being maintained with the donations that came through buymycoffe, but there are additional costs like living expenses and other obligations. So, I had to take up temporary work to ensure the continued development of the project.

This year has also brought many other unexpected personal problems, as I mentioned earlier. Now, another one has been added to that list – I had to end my marriage and a fifteen-year-long relationship. While it's not a sudden decision, it's never easy, but it has turned out to be more challenging than I anticipated. Not just for me, and this time, I want to dedicate as much time as necessary to conclude the matter properly. I had to learn how to do many things from scratch, set up a new work environment, establish daily routines, and more.

So, why all these deadlines and promises?
It was probably the only way for me to accomplish at least the absolute minimum. There's a lot of my own code waiting for review on my local branches, but it's genuinely hard for me to push myself to it for now. The infrastructure also requires fine-tuning, and Piotr is helping me with that. And the days are passing by very quickly.

However, I'm almost ready to continue on this journey, so you can expect that in the near future, there will be a banner with information and the update date of the instance and release. After that, we will work on avoiding such longer development downtimes in case of my absence.
