Scarecrow59,

This is something I dont understand, can someone explain to me: Is Rishi Sunnak not black? Do my eyes deceive me. Is he not a black leader of a european country too? Excuse my apparent ignorance.

Scarecrow59,

They had accountants in the 1700s. The principles of double entry bookkeeping remain the same, but the technology difference with computers and accounting software would make the day to day work unrecognizable.

Scarecrow59,

I think this will beneficial for the fediverse overall. Thereads will eventually have to advertise. At which point hopefully other Platforms on the fediverse will become more attractive to some threads users.

Scarecrow59,

Maybe they ran out of fuel? I hope they provide a reasonable explanation

Scarecrow59,

Doing regular excersise - I got into running and it really showed me how powerful excersise can be. Always improves my day, even if its going good, running makes it better.

CHROME (google) is planing to implement DRM (kinda) into their browser (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

looks like rendering adblockers extensions obsolete with manifest-v3 was not enough so now they try to implement DRM into the browser giving the ability to any website to refuse traffic to you if you don’t run a complaint browser ( cough…firefox )...

I feel like /c/memes has taught us a valuable lesson today: Would it make sense to develop a feature to block a comm from our feed for a selectable unit of time (1 hour, 1 day, etc.)?

Even if we’re subscribed to them? Could a temp block exist in conjunction with a subscription? I love c/memes but holy shit no matter which sort I select by they’ve managed to overwhelm my feed.

Scarecrow59,

Yeah I unsubscribed too. Thats all I was seeing on my feed.

Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...

Scarecrow59,

Occasionally I use reddit to find answers to questions about topics that aren’t really available on lemmy

Scarecrow59,

Cataclysm, dark days ahead, and phasmophobia with friends.

Scarecrow59,

It could be anyone!! Who hasn’t been on air recently?

Scarecrow59,

Ive noticed he’s not on the bbc news intro anymore. Could just be coincidence though.

Threat modelling tip: instead of a grand catastrophe, consider two simultaneous inconveniences

A lot of prepper content seems to wrongly focus on grand sudden events-Hollywood-style collapses of society or environment. The reality, from the fall of Rome to Lebanon this century, is that collapse is usually a slow crumbling where the things people rely on become less and less reliable....

Scarecrow59,

Prolonged Cold snap, and energy supply shortage. Climate change makes longer cold snaps more likely in the uk apparently.

Scarecrow59,

Yeah I have the same problem. Sorting by hot used to update all the time and now its been the same for days

Scarecrow59,

Same here, I find lichess to be a smoother experience. Although I prefer the rating system on chess.com as it seems to be more accurate to elo ratings. Overall I prefer lichess for no ads, no subscription pestering, and being entirely free.
