I didn’t click on the link, but there was a mini-documentary about a guy who, I believe, went across the US on an e-scooter.
It’s not as cut and dry as someone doing that on a bicycle. They need a team of people trailing them in a van, usually with many e-scooters that are kept charged. Definitely not self-supported, which isn’t as impressive as you want it to be. :(

After you install a wallet, you need to get some Monero. There are multiple ways to acquire some coins to spend, like mining or working in exchange for Monero, but the easiest way is to use an exchange and convert your fiat money into XMR. Many exchanges, centralized and decentralized, list Monero (XMR).
This sounds crazy complex for most people.
Cash -> Prepaid credit card (all still real money) is best, with the caveat that it may not be accepted everywhere. But then again, Monero is hardly accepted anywhere.
Cost is likely 90% of the reason. Make divorce free with nobody having to give up anything they own, and without any other support payment, and I guarantee the rates would skyrocket to at least 75% of all married couples. LOL
What do you all think of this company’s idea? You can lease a bike from them, to get started riding without the “big” expense of buying a bike up front....
Picked up a used, steel vintage MTB for $150 Canadian late last year. Already put over 2400km on it through the winter. It’s also taken me on a 180km+ adventure ride, so it does a good job for less than the cost of two tanks of gas.
Bikes don’t have to be expensive or a hassle.
I can see a leasing service being useful to some, but it really depends on how the lease is structured (cost) and what kind of bike/service/guarantee you get with it.

A man who was accused of sexually and physically assaulting a woman had his charges dropped in April, just weeks before he was set to stand trial in Toronto, due to a lack of judges in the region.
I’m not advocating for violence, but hypothetically, if a group of people decided to intact their own form of justice on this guy, would the courts also drop their case “due to lack of judges”? Because that’s an interesting loophole.
We should use AI to just cases in these scenarios.
I mean FFS, our local police issued an advisory listing the following:
“prior criminal convictions for Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Assault with a Weapon, Assault, Robbery, Possession of Explosives, Uttering Threats, and Failing to Comply with Probation Orders.”
Someone like that in this situation should default to being locked up until a judge is available. It’s not like the judge would say “you’re free to go” anyway, so who gives a damn about keeping him in jail?
It should always be about protecting victims (past and future), as well as showing the community that they are being kept safe. The justice system failed on all counts!
Literally, the other is letting a repeat offender who just broke his original court order and poses “and significant risk to the public” (the words of the police) free.
I always wanted to contribute to OSM but found it a bit daunting.
Any contribution helps! Hell, I went around town just looking for bike parking racks to add, and was able to put dozens of new ones on the map. You can even just label house numbers (with the aforementioned apps listed in the comment you replied to).
It should be highly noted that despite the substantial danger he poses to everyone, especially children, the courts decided it was OK to release this animal into the general population.
Until we start holding judges responsible for the actions of those set free, this “justice” system doesn’t benefit anyone except those committing crimes.
