Sir_mittens2,

You forgot the step where you have to scrolls to at least 2 pages of ads disguised as results

Sir_mittens2,

Something that happens every other week isn't news anymore. It's normal there

Sir_mittens2,

did it have 32bit cpu by any chance?. since linux stopped supporting it a while ago. if its 64 bit its fine i think

Sir_mittens2,

No I like it here better. The community is better. It's less toxic. Feels like the old internet again

Sir_mittens2,

Are most of them plug and play? That was also an issue on my current setup

Sir_mittens2,

Will check that one out

Sir_mittens2,

I did get it somewhat working by switching to Ubuntu in combination with the Ubuntu display link driver. But it's never stable

Sir_mittens2,

The display link drivers are the problem for me. Makes everything so unstable.

Latitude 7430, Dockingstation and Linux

My Laptop at work is Latitude 7430 and i'd like to switch from Windows to Linux (any distro is fine). Now i have tried Ubuntu, openSUSE and Manjaro to no avail, due to the insane lag on the integrated screen. When running on the Live ISO over USB everything seems to be working fine, the screens attached to the docking station...

Sir_mittens2,

does the docking station happen to have a display link chip in it? they give a lot of problems in my experience. it requires a separate driver

Sir_mittens2,

Iam not to use. Before I left reddit. Most of it was just reposted tiktoks and just general low quality posts on the big subreddits already

Just trying xubuntu, so far I love it (lemmy.ml)

So like the title says, I just want to appreciate how good ubuntu+xfce (xubuntu) is. I love the simplicity & how lightweight this distro. There's no bloat on minimal install, to the point I need to install the essential tools like task manager, music player, image viewer & xarchiver myself lol....

Sir_mittens2,

ms. office compatibility is not always that great, with openoffice, libre office etc. depending on the complexity of your files. try using the older office formats like .doc instead of .docx. i have found that to work best when sharing files with ms office users. or run office in a vm

Sir_mittens2,

ive just a lot off different office suits, and they all do almost the same on linux. i think its just which UI do you prefer.

Sir_mittens2,

maybe keep it here for now until the userbase is higher if youre already gonna split now its not gonna be very active i think

Sir_mittens2,

i like that i almost dont see any short form video content, like why does evertything needs to be a tiktok clone now, give me text and pictures

Sir_mittens2,

i would also say mint. i personally used manjaro, and have not found major problems using it as a non power user. most software you would need as a standard user are persent in the build in software center, which is pretty easy to use
