@capntransit The smaller the elite with cars, the less congestion can slow cars protect the pedestrian. (Exposure to cars is lower, but speed of cars may be higher). Unless no one has cars, these poor cities are not especially walkable in the normal sense of the word.

Are there good histories of the origin of the social democrat/green split? Because these days those parties are extremely similar throughout Europe (and in the Netherlands they just merged), and generally they prefer to govern with each other when possible.

@BenRossTransit @Alon Australian Greens are NIMBY isolationists, and Labor is not inherently to the left of the Liberals. The Teals are an interesting split from the Liberals in the cities — hiving off groups that care a bit more about CO2 and women’s issues. (Moving rump Libs rightward). RCV vs FPTP is really important.

Not surprised the City of Melbourne LGA has 60% of households with zero to one cars; I've always said you could easily live without a car in inner-city Melbourne. Would be interesting to see how many households here have precisely zero cars.

Short explainer: the expression "Alles für Deutschland" that Björn Höcke is being prosecuted for is a Nazi slogan. It's not well-known globally unlike the swastika, but it's known here and Höcke would have known.

Höcke himself is the leader of the Flügel, an AfD faction that pushes the party to be neo-Nazi, rather than just right-populist. AfD was Europe's most moderate far right party alongside UKIP 9 years ago; today it's our most extreme and became like the Flügel.

Food Stupidity from Waymo and Uber. Word is they're now testing food delivery by robotaxis. Instead of a delivery to your door, you have to run outside, flag down the car, and remove the food from the trunk. I'm sure this will be REALLY popular. Totally tone deaf.

Watched the first ep of cause everyone seems to be talking about it. Was pretty fun but I’m kinda lost. Never watched this show back in the day. I know some of the characters but that’s about it. Some of the art direction is pretty impressive.
