It’d be cringe if it locked you to a single launcher. I’ve been running /e/ on my last 2 phones and it’s solid. Also easier to switch iOS users over. FWIW lawnchair 2 works great

I’d say keep that machine as is, and whenever you build a new one, just put whichever distro you like. If possible I’d roll back to win10 and after support ends, keep that machine VLAN’d off the internet. This way you turn it into a music production appliance without disrupting your workflow

Same here, tho sometimes it makes a tantrum and I need to verify files so it resets the prefix. Kinda annoying when the mates are ready to dive and I’m here scanning files for 5min to redownload 18kb

Are they some graphic card benchmark for linux environment ? From my windows experience, drivers are important, and often underestimate. If using a somewhat modern distro, this isn’t an issue anymore (unless you run a really old OpenGL game).

I run my PC in this way with little to no performance degradation: monitors go to my motherboard (r5 2400g CPU with vega11 iGPU) and games use my RX 5700XT without having to do anything at all… Pretty smart handling tbh

Sadly unless you buy an old copy (on gog?) and use the WADs on gzdoom, doom is now Bethesda’s and they integrated the account system for all the old doom and quake titles

Recommendations for an authentic mousepad?

Hiya peeps, my mouse mat has served its time, and it is time for a new one. Until now, I’ve had one of these huge ones, that cover half the desk. But I think this time I’m gonna aim for a normal-sized one. I’d also like to avoid cheap Chinese wares or anything low-quality. Anyone got any nice recommendations for mousepads?...

I’ve used an A2 Olfa cutting mat for a long time (those dark green ones with the grid)

It was really beat up but the underside was pristine. Mice glided a lot. after getting a new mouse I decided to get a traditional cheapo deskmat because I didn’t want to wear the mouse skate pads.

I just checked and at least on LineageOS 21 (android 14) you indeed can add specific apps (and notification categories, eg calls) to bypass do not disturb

If you’re on Linux, gnome-web uses the same engine as safari. And it’s a mess

I use scorcher/eruptor/dmr etc as the backup and stalwart+supply pack as primary. Setting the stalwart to the highest rpm is plainly awesome for suppressing bots and shredding chaff.

And now with the new supplies upgrade those 4 boxes on the backpack last me way past the cooldown for a new pack

Good riddance, spent several years hooked to League. That being said, the fragmentation argument is bullshit, they could ship a read-only container in a flatpak and it’d run everywhere.

Kernel level is a huge risk and it doesn’t guarantee anything, especially in the age of Ai cheats and network mitm cheats

That’s the point. A read only container to keep low hanging fruit at bay, and flatpak to distribute without having to repackage to every distro under the sun.

Use something like Insular to create a work profile and install the apps there, along gapps and chrome.

That way you keep your work stuff sandboxed, with the bonus of turning them all off when your shift is over.
