@christianselig i buy them in every country I visit and use for various local only apps. For example, I imported my car from Germany and if it wasn’t for the German App Store account I would not be able to get an app for remote access.
Super useful, those cards.

I sort of expected to feel some FoMo regarding Vision Pro. But…nope.

That actually feels strange. Maybe I’m just over-saturated with tech gadgets. I’ve been watching my lots of mechanic / woodworking/ handyman videos lately and find them quite engaging.

@daringfireball I am pretty sure that with Apple's current size they are super-staffed with layers of mid-level managers that have little fiefdoms. These are usually career people that are managing by numbers and numbers they are given must go up from last year.
What PR Apple needs does not enter their Excel sheets.

It bothers me that the launch date of the Vision Pro was announced in a press release.

I was certain that this would have warranted an event in itself, where Apple could tell more of the story and invite third-party developers who have built great experiences for the platform.

I think Apple have yet to convince me why I should strap a $3,500 computer to my head.

I love Reveal but I rarely really use it, less than 10 times per year. I still paid for years because it's a good tool and price was manageable.

This though, is quite a steep price hike for such low usage and I will likely be canceling in March unless it suddenly becomes "needed at least once a week" tool.

Nonsense; Apple's Messages app already has an unencrypted pathway — using SMS. And unencrypted RCS, as of next year. A bridge to a competing service could also be unencrypted in the same form. If you really need to message somebody not using an encrypted service, you should get a warning in the app, but it should still be possible. It will be possible, and unencrypted, if other services interoperate with RCS directly

This is a chance to go one up and make both Messages and FaceTime an open standard. That is another instance of the thing Apple loves most — positive PR — it’s just bonus.

@mackuba true that. But I need to display result of asynchronous background action to the customer. Best would be to popup some dialog in the scene window they are looking at.

First plausible M3 tests are hitting Geekbench, presumably from press-review units: https://browser.geekbench.com/search?q=M3

Single/multi-core:

M3: ~3000/~11,700 (if these are real)
M2: ~2600/~9700
M1: ~2300/~8300

Looks great! A 30–40% improvement over three years is remarkable, especially for such a low-power and low-cost chip.

I bet the high end M3 Max gives the M1 Ultra a run for its money. 12 20-30% faster cores should beat the 16 "slower" cores for most real world stuff. If I wasn't such a core, uhm fan, I'd seriously consider going to a regular Studio next round.
