This meme is so much funnier when you know these are two completely unrelated portraits of Samuel Johnson ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Johnson ) who appears to just have a tendency to make faces while getting painted
Also I really really appreciate Kurzgesagt's general optimism and attempts to inspire hopefulness with every subject, and I do like the theory of what I would call 'recursive blackhole anthropic principle' that they talk about in the video, that blackholes could be recursive universes with some 'natural selection' going on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropic_principle
I messed up, accidentally broke off the dumpvalve instead of nulling it. It's very null now, and very good at dumping. Tried to fix it with ducttape, but...
Alright, attempt #2, got some different kind of fancy 2-component moldable glue / filler that's supposed to be stronger and dries much faster. Let's see how it goes
@anthropy this is the kind of thing you want the cleverest people in the room to work on. A proper good news story, about an advance that has so many possibilities benefits for humanity, and an actual, real, valid use for AI
Reminder for people who can't find a political candidate to represent them:
It's not supposed to represent you, it's supposed to be the least evil choice you manage to pick, and not picking anything, will usually result in the most inconvenient choice being picked for you.
Not voting is not a signal, it's aiming a gun at your own foot and giving someone else the trigger.
This also goes if your lesser-evil option has done very evil things. Lesser evil doesn't imply lawful good, unfortunately 😶
like at very least vote for a party you don't think makes any chance.
Not voting is a waste of a very hard fought-for right, that not all of this world has available to them.
Imagine yourself in a country that would love to have these rights to vote even for the most imperfect candidate that's not literally a dictator, but is simply not able to vote because the dictator made it illegal. This could be you, if you let it slip for long enough.
Is it fun to think about that? No. Don't. Just vote
I have a theory that people who dislike the caps attached to bottles, actually don't push the cap away far enough to click into resting position on the side, causing it to press against their face when they try drink from the bottle.
I don't see any other reason to dislike them anyway, if you use them properly they don't get in the way, it means you never have to look for or place the cap anywhere while pouring, you can't lose the cap, it means you can drink with one hand while e.g biking, etc🤷
@anthropy The beach, sorry but no measurements are going to change anything there... And most of these can be from anywhere in the world and from years ago.
Let's agree to disagree. I think this is just EU bureaucratic showmanship that has no real, and perhaps even negative, impact whilst annoying most people. They'd have spent their time better addressing more useful policies.
@maruno fine, agree to disagree it is then :P I think they're a great feature I'd love to see on bottles without the EU having to first tell people to do things that make sense, but that's just me apparently x3
