So the new Instagram text thing is reported to have ActivityPub support and instead of being happy at all the new labor that could potentially be coming to the standard, Mastodon people are now actively encouraging instances to not federate with any of that stuff. K.

@film_girl @matt which is...just not how the world works. I use Proton mail but I also fully understand why it's niche and Gmail's as popular as it is. I can do my thing but it's not a hill worth dying on.

@film_girl @matt exactly! (Although we're probably do for a JavaScript correction at some point here.) I'm thrilled folks like Fastmail are working on projects like JMAP too, but reaching significant adoption of anything like that is hard enough without a bunch of gatekeeping.

So far for mine, I'm thinking a professional and personal summary, book list (I read a lot), and some way to integrate photos like from my LEGO IG but would need a better photo sharing API that maybe cross-posts to IG.

@sia @sarajw https://simpleicons.org are my go to and https://heroicons.com for generic glyphs. @adam is also a pro at extracting SVGs ❤️

@sia ahhh @adam adds/maintains those, but you could likely drop the SVG on a server and embed it if it's not available. I got the Oku icon in my site footer from Adam though.
