Rich countries sent climate funding to the developing world with interest rates or strings attached that benefited the lending nations.

What makes us think COโ‚‚ removal () will be any different? Why would rich countries spend trillions of dollars to benefit the developing world?

Nuclear power would be a climate solution if we could get nuclear power plants permitted and built fast enough, cheap enough, and safe enough. What if direct air capture were the same?

This Google spinoff aims to remove 500 tonnes of COโ‚‚ per year from the atmosphere, which is a time machine that takes us back less than a second each year. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

@davidho It's the weird thing about carbon capture. If you actually do the math, it's utterly pointless.

If the problem is too much technology, the solution is not more technology.

@davidho@mastodon.world avatar

@robpike Iโ€™ve done some math on this. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Does watching polo make me an elitist?

@davidho @jbenjamint I do know of 4 others who ride penny farthings in Norway but I suspect I need a few more than that.

Perhaps I will make contacts at https://www.sweden3days.se ๐Ÿ˜‰

Whoโ€™s up for watching some penny-farthing polo at Ham in Richmond today?

Iโ€™m not against cute things that people do, but this will never be a climate solution. What will? Wind and solar, electrification, energy efficiency, stopping methane leakage.

@davidho I thought concrete was a big contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Hypothetically, if this sugar cane block became economically viable, wouldn't it be a legit part of the solution? Or is your gripe that it's probably not economically viable and therefore a bit of a distraction?

davidho,
@davidho@mastodon.world avatar

@cubeofcheese itโ€™s also not scalable.
