I understand the sentiment, but I hate this phrase. If any of the e.g. Scandinavian royals would exhibit this kind of behaviour and lawlessness, the monarchy would be dismantled in a heartbeat. It’s mostly for show, and the monarchy only exists for as long as the people want it to.
Louis XVI was prosecuted and found guilty of high treason and crimes against the state by the National Convention during the French revolution, so it does happen from time to time.
YouTube first spoke about pause ads last year when it started trialing them in select regions. At the time, the company said that when you pause a video, it will shrink, and an ad will appear next to it....
Or ensuring the spool is still useful 15 years later while everything has migrated to SFP/QSFP
Nah, the remaining spool will be useful for the rest of its/your lifetime, it always comes in handy as a generic 4-pair twisted pair signal cable for any non-ethernet purpose. I’ve used my old spool twice this year; first for an m-bus cable to my power meter and then for a limit switch for my garage door.
you were trying to be sarcastic, but instead you have…
Lol no, I know better than trying to be sarcastic online, I was making the same point as you (although less eloquently). Wholeheartedly agree with what you said!
E.g. I have a plethora of grapes. We should stop using the term plethora because they could just say “a lot.”
That reminds me of the old joke:
A widow was holding a funeral for her husband, when a man asked if he could say a word. “Of course” said the widow, so he stood up and exclaimed “plethora!”. The widow replied “thanks, that means a lot”.
Same, I won’t be able to use Proton Drive until a Linux CLI is in place. Currently paying for Jottacloud for now along with my Proton subscription; their CLI tool is pretty good in Linux as far as I can tell.
I can wear a dress to work and nobody criticizes me. I’d be really sad if I had to wear pants all the time, they’re just not as comfortable. Let’s normalize pretty dresses for dudes!
Trying to de-bloat KDE feels like a game of chicken. Whichever K-application I try to uninstall, I get a prompt asking me to confirm if I want to uninstall a plethora of important-sounding kde packages. It gambles on me not knowing which "kde-[...]" packages are vital for KDE Plasma to run, so I don't take the chance on uninstalling the email client, multimedia programs etc.
Couldn't read the article due to paywall, but I noticed recently after converting to treadmill (for convenience) that I enjoy going longer and slower rather than short and fast. Ironically, the drab of running on a treadmill isn't as bad when I run slow enough that I can zone out and focus on the podcast/youtube/zwift-chat.
Not sure if this is common knowledge or not. Why YSK it’ll save you the guessing game of which side your gas tank is on when pulling up to a gas station.

Are metric measurements like decameters and hectometers ever used?
I’ve learned about them in school, but I’ve never heard anyone say something is 8 decameters long or anything like that. I’m an American.
