The day I get to delete will be one of the happiest days of my life.

@Gina I deleted mine years ago, no regrets. So many nonsense that I received even in private messages. Saves so much time for me to not having to respond/read these things that I use for other stuff :)

Today was cell broadcast test day in NL. @janvlug and @z3ntu thankfully captured Modemmanager logs. Piped that into my MM testcase and could parse it out all right:

> NL-Alert 04-12-2023 12:00: TESTBERICHT. De overheid waarschuwt je tijdens noodsituaties via NL-Alert. Je leest dan wat je moet doen en waar je meer informatie kan vinden. *** TEST MESSAGE Netherlands Government Public Warning System. No action required.

Next up message assembly and exposing it on DBus.

@agx Really important to see these features being integrated! Have you looked also already at Advanced Mobile Location of the EU. I did in the past because it suppose to be open but never got the actual SMS number or HTTP endpoint for each country. The spec is open though ans mandantory for compliance in EU: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Mobile_Location

Sailfish OS, Android and iOS have it but is closed source...

@agx Oh awesome! Once I find my notes maybe I should put them there? Together we might figure it out!

Time to let the cat out of the bag.

I've been working on a new app to use your #Linux phones and tablets as secondary wireless "side displays" (not mirrors). This is based on #GStreamer, x264, #Mutter APIs, and low-latency UDP streaming, and will be designed to work on both ARM and Intel, regardless of hardware acceleration support. (Testing on a #librem5)

This is still at an early stage, and will take some time to become usable. Thoughts and feedback?

#gnome #linuxphones #apps #mobilelinux

Video showing a Dell XPS on the left and a Purism Librem 5 on its right. We can see the cursor opening the MirrorHall app on both devices, connecting between them through a dialog, and then using the Librem phone as a wireless display for the laptop.

@tuxdevices This looks amazing! I assume this also works the other way around?

EDIT: seems I'm not the only one asking :)

@dylanvanassche@fosstodon.org avatar

@tuxdevices ooooh amazing! A nice FOSS alternative for Chromecast or Apple's thing to share your screen!

@tuxdevices @be This serves also like a good example on how to grab and export the desktop to another screen if we ever want to have Android Auto support for example.
