As desperate attempts to make use of FOMO go, Argos’ email about ‘the LAST CHANCE to review your recent purchase’ [a curtain track] is one of the most amusingly pointless.

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@olivermantell ok, now i'm wondering WHY it might possibly be the last chance for a review. the only reason i can think of is that they're discontinuing it. which makes the review rather pointless.
and now you're wondering it too. sorry :)

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@olivermantell probably. but i'd rather make up silly reasons like Jack in IT programmed in a time bomb before he left in a pay dispute so the review function will shut itself down on his birthday next Thursday.
i've also been watching high school dramas again so the thought of giving Argos detention for lying did cross my mind but that's a bit mean.

the local GP practice was bought by a city centre one who've been slowly closing it down. now have to go into city centre for annual blood pressure check for medication. except they've also relocated their city centre practice to a posh bit so it's a not-cheap 36 minute bus ride in with a not-short walk either side and then more walking to get to any shops i can afford. i don't have the energy for this.
at least two other neighbouring practices have closed too, options to change are limited

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@sheepchase Don't know. GPs here are part of the NHS but also private practices so sometimes capitalism comes into play.
The practice which absorbed my local one has now also merged with one on the opposite side of the city.

Inspired by @emmaaum, I decided to collect some of my recent impressions of the dramas that I have watched in one place.

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@Sollenbum Yay. I like your takes on dramas and this will make it so much easier to find one when I'm in the mood for a Henriette-favourite style drama :)

My PTW ceased to be useful that way last year 🙃

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@Sollenbum i just scrolled all the way down to the bottom of my PTW to see how many - 282. how did that happen? yikes 😱

Basically didn’t watch any of this year’s . The outcome was too predictable.

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@sheepchase shit. i managed to not even realise it was on. the cycling addict part of my life really is over.

Just finished “Will Love in Spring” 🌸 It was a beautifully realistic depiction of two traumatized people, trying to make a long-distance relationship work. The female lead was immature and selfish, though, and had to do some growing up before they could have a future together.

@Sollenbum Do you collect your mini reviews anywhere? I bookmark some of them here but I might remember to actually watch them if you had an MDL list or something 😳

@Sollenbum thank you :) :) :)

emmaaum,

@Sollenbum Mini-review just seemed a fitting description to me :) Can't think of a better word either.
This is my fav Thai list, it's easy to send to people too. https://mydramalist.com/list/4a6Qbya1
I have another for a drama challenge and really like having it as a quick way to look back or remind myself. Wish their custom lists had spoiler options though.
Thanks for making yours :)

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@Sollenbum You're very welcome 🙂

Other people's lists have become one of my best ways to find things to watch. Also why my PTW is over 100 just from Thailand 🤦‍♀️

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@Sollenbum I called my PTW a black hole of good intentions a while back and it's stuck. I'd love to be able to change its name on the site :)
On hold: Functionally dropped but I'm not admitting it yet
Dropped: Fled in terror
At least my Currently watching list is no longer 45% on hold and 45% really did intend to watch this at some point in the last year. It's down to one of each. Progress!! Soo sah

One little elephant is about to go on an adventure of a lifetime.

(In case you weren't aware, every household in Wales is provided with a dragon of some description. They carry out a variety of tasks, including delivery of small items.)

@emmaaum I lost my list of the Thai dramas you had recommended. If you don’t mind sharing a few more short series titles, I would appreciate it. Also I believe there was a short, about 30 minutes long that I still haven’t watched.

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@nightdream Dai si :)
That would be The Library https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH7noNdd1l8

Also, this is one of my favourite short series. 4 x 8 minute episodes Japanese https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_YdgdQ0EVI

Let me see if I can find what I sent. BRB

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@nightdream You've very welcome. I'm so happy you want to watch more.
I couldn't get to the rest of the thread so here's my MDL list again. Clicking on the titles will take you to the site synopsis if you want to read more.
Moonlight Chicken 8 eps, He's Coming to Me 8 eps and Bad Buddy 12 eps are all on youtube too. How long do you still consider short? :)

emmaaum,

@sheepnik It would be SOOOO CUTE though. Na?

emmaaum,
@emmaaum@zirk.us avatar

@sheepnik Fair enough.
A neighbour gave me her sort-of rusty garden chairs and another neighbour is giving me advice on painting them. She asked what colour and the part of my brain where a 243 year old vampire resides immediately suggested rainbow and squirt guns but refuses to tell me if you can put several colours of paint into a squirt gun and not have them mix together if you don't run around with them. I know he knows.

@himboluigi I started 23.5
The first episode is so good, that gentle blend of humour, difficulty and kindness. Girls who are into astronomy. Girls who look out for each other. Giant fluffy dog. Aylin!!!

Am halfway through “Will Love in Spring” 🌸 It is a healing drama with a very realistic twist and a good sense of humour. The female lead has her own life in Shanghai and the male lead has chosen to return to their hometown to work and take care of his grandmother. Their feelings are real and based on teenage feelings, but making a relationship work in adult life is tricky.

Great chemistry and acting that makes the dilemma feel real…

It must be so much easier to live in the headspace where you can just blame Israel for it all and forget (oh you never knew, now you do) that Hamas spent 17 years and a hell of a lot of aid money building an underground complex and turning Gazan infrastructure into a battleground which protects itself and maximises civilian deaths.
And still the civilian-combatant death ratio is remarkably low for any war, let alone urban warfare.
But fuck it, blame Israel.
