everett,

I used to work at a toy factory making plastic Draculas.

There were only two of us, so I had to make every second count.

everett,

Same deal here. Text is too big, tool icons are just about right, brushes and patterns are microscopic.

everett,

I’m my local park

Thank you for your service.

everett,

Tell us more about your illustrious legal career.

Which movies have aged like fine wine? (either in their message or cinematography)

I recently saw ‘Don’t Look Now’ (1973). Good picture, a little slow perhaps by today’s standards but worthy of any movie enjoyer’s time! So this movie was shot in Venice. Venice itself being an already beautiful spot to film even today. The way we get to look in a time capsule of Venice in the 70s makes the movie that...

everett,

Absolutely. I saw it for the first time maybe a year ago and went in not knowing anything about it, not even the synopsis, and that was the perfect way to experience it. What a ride.

What to include in a backup? (Ubuntu)

Hi! A friend just recommended the backup tool that comes with Ubuntu. I took a look at it and was wondering what you guys include and exclude from the backups. I just installed wire guard VPN and but the config file in the etc/wireguard folder, where it belongs. I would have to include this folder as well if I want to keep my...

everett,

Skipping the OS backup is reasonable, but you probably want to at least save a package list. Add something like dpkg -l > ~/packages.txt to your backup script.

everett,

I’d add Quod Libet as another solid GTK pick, though I’m happily using it on KDE.

everett,

Yes, because I like reading.

But seriously, ebooks… maybe 8.5 times out of 10. E-ink screens are amazing and just as good as paper, but having your books also available on your phone, and thus always in your pocket, is transformative. So, digital on a platform that syncs between devices. (Bonus points for accomplishing this with an open-source app.)

everett,

Seems like this went over everybody’s head, but it was a quality joke.

everett,

because of the 10 songs she named, one of them was a cover

I mean, this sounds like a joke that went over everybody’s heads.

Sharper text for reading more comfortably, and viewing photos at nearly full resolution. You don’t have to discern individual pixels to benefit from either of these. And stuff you wouldn’t think of, like small thumbnails and icons can actually show some detail.

everett,

But only the OLED model, thanks to the improved kickstand.

everett,

I feel like there might be some middle ground between

knowing every detail little about each other’s lives

and

go months without talking

everett,

Not for everyone, but if “collection of perl scripts” sounds like your jam, GnuPod still works for a CLI option.

everett,

They said “generic images” so it sounds like it’s not photos.
