I don't think everyone has seen the original video. I, for one, just saw it today. Not everyone will understand.

🍕🚀 Your browser experience, just like your favorite pizza, should be fully customizable to suit your tastes. And at Vivaldi, your feedback is the secret sauce that makes it all possible! 🌟

But like any great recipe, sometimes the ingredients don't quite blend as intended.

After the release of Vivaldi 6.6 on Android, our efforts to unify menus and toolbars led to unintended consequences.

And by the way! When will I be able to disable this extremely inconvenient for many (on the forum wrote) update with a swipe? And at the same time, so I don't have to write twice, when will I be able to disable the side gestures "forward" and "back"? They overlap with system-wide android gestures and it turns out to be uncomfortable.

I could talk about expirience for hours. But... it wouldn't be a fun conversation.

For example, viewing, copying and exporting passwords in the browser is not locally protected in any way. All it takes is for a smartphone with an open lockscreen to fall into the hands of a clever crook for 10 minutes, and he will steal everything. And I won't even know it. Is it difficult to encrypt access to any password with a master password? Much less a full export of passwords in unencrypted form. I'm afraid to use such a password manager! It looks like a wallet with lots of holes in it.

About gestures and the desirability of turning them off, for example:

About passwords: I looked at the latest stable version, I think you decided to make the -reauth-password-filling flag non-disable in principle. :) I have not been able to disable it, but in the previous version it was possible. Yes, that's a workaround too. Except that fingerprint protection and other system-wide biometrics are weaker than an extra layer of encryption and asking for a separate password.

I'll quote one post of mine in translation:

I'm on a budget, too. And agree, that's not a substantive answer to the question.
There are people who use sub-screen or on-screen buttons, right? In this case, browser gestures are easier to use, they don't overlap with system-wide gestures. And there are long-standardized functions of controlling the smartphone with gestures, controlling the whole system. Firmware gestures allow to save screen space - they remove the system-wide panel with buttons. But they conflict with Vivaldi gestures.

And here's the interesting thing: if we use gestures on Vivaldi, then maybe it makes sense to optionally build in a complete disabling of the browser control panel? It also takes up space and duplicates gestures with buttons, though it is auto-open. And vice versa, if we use the control panel, why are gestures enabled at the same time? Both optionality, i.e. flexibility of settings would be appropriate. Including for compatibility with smartphone/tablet settings.

@Vivaldi But isn't it obvious, but with even (!) a reload button in the omnibox, a swipe to refresh the page should be optional? What is there to discuss here, this is a must have problem. It has been indirectly touched upon many times on the forum, including in English.

As for the side gestures that duplicate the "back" and "forward" buttons, judge for yourself from this screenshot, can you use them? Add to that the enabled system-wide gestures. Triple overlay! Triple - and not only on this forum. So, they should be made optional too, they are only useful for people who use underscreen- or osd-buttons, not gestures for firmware. I mean, it just needs to be done, otherwise the discussion will drag on for another 5 years.

@Vivaldi I apologize for the possible harshness, but please pay attention to this thread. The request is about to be 4 years old. The request is as simple as 2 cents. Kiwi, Cromite, Firefox - have import/export of bookmarks, and android/Vivaldi - do not. I don't know why the most simple and everyday things can't be done in a week or a month. But I'm afraid it's the same story with gestures.

@Vivaldi
Very sad your game is not adapted for android smartphones. It's almost impossible to play it from a browser, neither in the first nor in the second game. If ever the developers want to make a special apk-file, let them pay special attention to the work with the control buttons! They should be flexibly customizable - both in size and location. Like in Apple Knight Dungeon.

@Vivaldi

  1. I don't understand why only one item out of 4 had to be chosen?
  2. no offence, but many people's position on password storage/synchronisation is too one-sided. I have passwords that I only store in the password manager, and I have those that I easily save in the browser. The latter, in general, are not afraid of losing them, but that's a last resort. And I have 2FA and login notifications set up for all sites where they are provided at all.
  3. I will ask one simple question: have there been any cases of information (not only passwords) encrypted on the user's device leaking from Vivaldi servers (this is one) and then compromising this information, breaking it, taking into account passwords correctly generated by the user? (That's two.) Have there been such cases for other, any chromium-based browsers on any other platforms? (That's three.)

@Vivaldi
Personally, I would prefer Vivaldi on android to show in History the date and time up to seconds of a site visit (with synchronisation), with search by this criterion. And the full name of the page plus the full address up to three-five lines in small font, not as it is now, when all forum pages in History are visible in the same way and try to guess! And that there should be synchronisation of all settings and flags I have changed, but it should be separate for desktop and mobile browsers - for obvious reasons.

@Vivaldi That's a good thing. But I am alarmed by the poor quality of automatically generated passwords for applications. There are 3-4 pairs of the same ones per 25 characters. There are even three identical ones. Please, this needs to be improved! And I hardly should have used obsolete sha1 in the code generator! Even my app pointed out that this is a weak security method. Why don't you opt for reliability right away?
