ChatGPT really sucks at guitar tabs. Example #1:

I asked it to produce a major and minor Segovia-style scale in any key. It gave me scales in first position with open strings -- which is kinda not the point of Segovia-style scales. And, while telling me it was a C major scale, it was actually an E minor.

After a few tries to get it to correct itself, it gave up and suggested I look up Segovia scales on the internet.

Netflix is hinting they’ll raise rates again this year. They learned their lesson from cable companies: there is no real growth to be gained in subscribership so the only way to increase revenues for shareholders is to raise prices.

But how much is too much? I have been “feathering” my streaming services (unsubscribing after bingeing a few shows then resubbing after several months when new content is available) but I’ve held on to Netflix.

Maybe no more.

@serpicojam It was a few different shows I’ve streamed recently. Netflix’s “Fall of the House of Usher”, then was also in HBO’s “Watchmen”.

I always notice it because it was the first piece I played with the youth orchestra.

Things that have broken in our 2019 GMC Yukon in the last few weeks:

  • 2 yr old battery died for no discernible reason

  • retracting running boards stopped retracting. One is up, one is down.

  • infotainment screen developed “ghost touch” so it’s always doing something random like changing radio stations or calling people

  • hood latch sensor died so now there’s a constant “Hood Open” alarm going off while driving

As if new windshields and a new furnace weren’t enough surprise expenses for this Unemployed Christmas, now I have to get a set of new tires.

Daughter ran over something on the road last night that took out two of her tires. She’s fine, but goddammit I can’t catch a break.

@harrymccracken the new head of connected vehicle products at GM openly admitted in his first all people meeting that even though he’d like to make it less painful, he can’t ignore that keeping the OnStar cancellation process difficult prevents 50% attempted cancellations.

Remote work has been the best thing to happen to tech workers since allowing us to ditch the suits and dress down into business casual.

The open workspace format did so much to destroy productivity and focus. Asking us to return to it is insane.

I’m surprised how few people have memories of Devils Night like I do - or even remember it at all.

October 30 was the day to stay up watching your house, your cars, and even your street. Vandals ranged from the basic toilet papering of trees and egging your house to burning down entire blocks of vacant-ish houses.

I don't know anyone who likes Comcast/Xfinity. They are a necessary evil when there are no other options for internet service at home.

I'm waiting for the annual jacking of the monthly rate by 50% until I threaten to cancel and then still take a 10% increase that i'm expected to be thankful for.

I gave up on Google as default search years ago, and my occasional use of it reminds me it was a great decision. DuckDuckGo is awesome, but heck, at least use Bing, and no more having to scroll past dozens of results before seeing unpaid links.
