Pretty cold, wet spring so far. Projected to still be in the low 40s overnight even 10 days from now in early June. I’m looking at hundreds of hemp starts in the garage that need lows above 50 to be planted out and wondering when I’m going to be able to do that. #FarmerThoughts
The issue is that if they can’t be planted out and they spend too much time in their 3” pots, they get root-bound, which can impair them even after they’re out. I could pot them up to 5” pots, but then they need a lot more light coverage, so I have to hang more lights. It’s a lot of work, which I can do, but it would be a whole lot easier to just plant them outside. Next year maybe I’ll start them a week later. In previous years, it’s been warmer by now. Farming is so much about timing.
@lemay oh no! My peppers look okay - some leaf discoloration from the cold, but they're still blooming, which is amazing. And, yeah, the toms seem fine. They're tough.
Hemp really likes heat and light, tho, and we ain't got that yet (and it's not coming soon, which is what's worrying me).
