Ukraine should start offering a paid service to victims of ransomware and data exfil where they drop a UAV full of explosives on the Russians that did the ransomware attack.

    Australia’s national anthem is an uninspiring slow dirge of a song that approximately everybody hates. Under a government I lead, I will turn this around, and make it a shining example of how excellent a national anthem COULD be. Within 100 days of my government taking office, I will introduce legislation that mandates that Advance Australia Fair must not be played slower than 130bpm, and must only be played on kazoos in staccato. Thank you, there will be no questions.

    @decryption Gonna stick with Launtel, I took a look at Leaptel and the best they can do with RedTrain FTTH is 100/40, I can go 1000/400 if I wanted to with Launtel ($366/month though!)

    @decryption If you go Launtel, I have a promo code I can give you.

    georgeharito,
    @georgeharito@mastodon.au avatar

    @decryption The referral program gives me $50 credit and gives you $25 credit, it’s not a crazy big discount but it’s better than nothing I guess. There’s a 7 day trial period with Launtel too, so you could always go somewhere else if you’re not happy with them. I’m pretty happy with them, but I also don’t have the option of going to ABB, Superloop, Leaptel or other big name ISPs.

    georgeharito,

    @jensimmons I noticed something interesting (at least to me) with Apple’s new documentation site.

    The blue rectangle below is shown when I select an option. But it only shows in Firefox and Chrome. Is this as a result of ambiguity in the standards that two browsers do it this way, and Safari does not show it?

    georgeharito,
    @georgeharito@mastodon.au avatar

    @dbarros @jensimmons from my (very quick) inspections between Chrome, Firefox and Safari looking at the same site, it looks like Chrome and Firefox fire off a focus event when clicking around, while Safari doesn’t. The blue bordering applied on a link that :focus=true is still there in all browsers including Safari, but because it doesn’t seem to fire off in Safari, it doesn’t appear in that browser.

    Another thing I found interesting was that, although Apple added :focus styles to these links, in Safari I wasn’t able to access these links when navigating by keyboard alone (unless I am missing something?) With Chrome and Firefox however, I could tab around and access all links on the page.

    georgeharito,
    @georgeharito@mastodon.au avatar

    @dbarros @jensimmons Yeah really weird decision there. I wonder what’s stopping Safari from accessing that area of the page with keyboard nav. Was this site accessibility tested at all?

    @decryption I completely understand the reasons why you still read DF, but I stopped many years ago. If there was anything important to read there, it’d be surely reported by other sites too, I’m happy to lend my eyeballs to those sites.

    Has anybody else noticed that Mastodon has suddenly stopped working correctly in older browsers today? In Opera 89.x all of the images are broken, and in MyPal (based on Firefox 68.x) all I get is a blank screen.

    Yeah, I know, security updates, moving on with the times, etc... but if YouTube, Twitter/X, eBay, Yahoo, Patreon, etc., and tons of other major web sites still work fine in these browsers, I don't see why Mastodon can't. Hopefully this is just a temporary bug.

    georgeharito,
    @georgeharito@mastodon.au avatar

    @vwestlife It might be worth checking the Developer Tools console, there might be some errors there that you could then report back to the Mastodon team?
