My macOS app Shaper for is now available for free. Well, at least for the time being. I only sold 10 copies or so and it was more of a step towards something bigger (should I call it Karate?), so why not. Maybe it is still useful to someone 🙂
What it does? It converts SVG images (not every feature supported) into SwiftUI Views and Shapes.

Just released a new version of Lighter.swift, my super-fast tooling for . It now supports all versions of Int types (Int8 and such), Float (in addition to Double) and has better behaviour when encountering unmapped raw representable values. Bool can also parse some basic textual booleans (0/1, yes/no, etc).

Not sure everyone noticed, I didn't so far, but transitions have a new (or newly exposed) API in iOS 17+/etc. It is now a protocol that works based on view modifiers.

I'm happy to announce my first package: MacroCows. It does something in very high demand, adding ASCII to your sourcecode. Happy moo'ing! https://github.com/helje5/MacroCows

Long forgotten today, Apple actually shipped a "MacOS X" for PC's. Yes, this isn't Yellow Box for Windows, but an actual MacOS X operating system for PCs. Someone made a video too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZUhzQzJ3jI

@ctietze @chris It’s a good article by @saagar, but it doesn’t actually discuss the graph that much.
I think this is the best thing I’ve seen about the graph itself (and how updates work): https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10156/

If you need a pre-filled database just to play around w/ SwiftData, I have this Northwind import as an example/prototyping database: https://github.com/Northwind-swift/NorthwindSwiftData

sometimes is a lot about writing code in such a way that you get compilation speed down.

A new version of the SwiftPM Catalog is out, v1.2.2. It is a to browse packages. I've worked together with @finestructure to update the app for upcoming changes in the @SwiftPackageIndex API. Searches in older versions will stop working.
Apart from that, no functional changes, well, compiled w/ the latest swiftc! 🏎️

Note that I'm happy to take PRs on the catalog data: https://github.com/ZeeZide/SwiftPMCatalog/

I have no idea what went wrong with the Preferences Settings app. It isn't just the organization/UX which is awful, but it also is completely b0rked as a program.
Most of the icons are missing. I've chosen Wallpaper, not Appearance. It is not responding well, but doesn't show the CoD either.

If you asked how @SwiftStudio going. Well... it been better. Apple #Swift just recently decided to shutdown #SwiftPM API I use (to make things CLI cannot provide). I find it unexpected (to me, not to apple) move after many years. https://github.com/apple/swift-package-manager/issues/7440

I'm disappointed with a move in that direction and find that decision harmful for the third-party dev tooling ecosystem trying to adopt SwiftPM. IMHO.

@heckj @nickmain I wrote a wrapper for Wasmer a while ago, not sure it still works, but might be worth a look if you want to go that route: http://www.alwaysrightinstitute.com/swifty-wasmer/

It's annoying that the hashtag is flooded with the Nazi shit. To counter that I thought I put up some nicer pictures. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grüne_Zitadelle_von_Magdeburg

3D grids w/ depth span (ever heard about "depth span"? Now you did! 🙈). Looks like we are feature complete on the Grid side. That took way too much time.

If some person has a few hours to spend and wants to help out a FOSS project, Highlightr has something reasonably small to fix. It is using older NSScanner API which is now throwing (about 8) deprecation warnings (but it still works).
Would be cool if someone would have a look and fix them: https://github.com/raspu/Highlightr

If you are wondering why attachments to entities in don't seem to compile anymore: looks like the API got changed in the final release 🙂
The compiler is as helpful as usual in SwiftUI contexts, it suggests that the API is not available on visionOS on the old version ...

One important thing iPad is still lacking is: multi user! I'd buy one for each room, but not one for each person in each room. 🤷‍♀️

ForEach and materials. Still some translation bugs though. 3D layout is mind-bending.

What do people use as a more efficient Codable coder but JSON, or is it essentially hopeless because Codable?

No, the thinnest Apple product ever is the polishing cloth.

I provided App Review with email/password combinations for test users to sign in with. Instead of using the provided credentials when reviewing the app, they chose to sign in with a magic link using one of the email addresses, which they don’t have access to.

So now their conclusion is that login doesn’t work in my app and rejected the app 🤦‍♂️

@simonbs Did you submit today? I stopped submitting at weekends, I think those only have a backup crew (no offence).
