a tepid aged rich guy who only loosely reflects what his base wants and is incapable of delivering the level of change the historic moment requires.
I mean, green energy, student loans, proper actual judges, high-speed rail, decriminalized weed, support for Ukraine, prosecuting trump for at least one of his many many crimes, increased school funding, etc etc and that was with half his term under a batshit republiQan House that can barely not hold up revenge porn in public hearings.
It’s all about the absolutism. Until Communist Jesus descends to earth and magically, instantaneously creates a utopian state of equitable harmony, every single person is a heartless greedy warmongering ratfucker bastard who will never get support.
They still don’t have a media plan. 2016 broke everything. The best anyone’s come up with - that I’ve seen - is to constantly hassle voters with unsolicited texts.
Wrong. It’s like we have 25 million dollars lets run the same ad 100 times a day. Wrong!
This was a key thing he did which made it psychologically possible to launch a coup attempt on Jan. 6, so doubling down on it now suggests that he’s going to attempt something like it if he loses.
This is why people are not ready. What the republiQan party is contributing to - the kind of chaos and instability they’re willingly agreeing to inflict in order for a shot at more power is unconscionable. The massive uptick in narcissistic sociopaths in the GQP is no coincidence.
Your parent’s republican party should be ashamed, but that’s never stopped them before and it sure as shit won’t stop them now.

All that notwithstanding, Google cutting the check is a concession to the merits of the Antitrust Division’s case. As Lee Hepner put it, “If it wasn’t clear already, Google is acknowledging that actual monetary damages, even if trebled, are an insufficient deterrent for a trillion dollar entity to illegally maintain a monopoly.”
There are a couple of things going on here. First, Google has an unlimited budget for its antitrust defense, and it also does an immense amount of product testing. It’s quite likely that it did mock trials in front of test juries, and found that the outcome probably wasn’t good. The judge in the case, Leonie Brinkema, has been pretty annoyed at Google, so it’s not a promising outcome if they go with a bench trial. But they will bet on the judge than a jury. Second, circuit courts are usually more reluctant to overturn a jury than a judge, so Google wants Brinkema to have to author an opinion that they can then try to overturn.
The Supreme Court has preserved a Republican-held South Carolina congressional district, rejecting a lower-court ruling that the district discriminated against Black voters.
The Supreme Court ‘s conservative majority on Thursday preserved a Republican-held South Carolina congressional district, rejecting a lower-court ruling that said the district discriminated against Black voters.
In dissent, liberal justices warned that the court was insulating states from claims of unconstitutional racial gerrymandering.
In a 6-3 decision, the court held that South Carolina’s Republican-controlled legislature did nothing wrong during redistricting when it strengthened Rep. Nancy Mace’s hold on the coastal district by moving 30,000 Democratic-leaning Black residents of Charleston out of the district.
