Currently learning how to play the breakdown part of Meshuggah's Do Not Look Down. It is heavily syncopated, but I think I got the pattern. The notes repeat every 3 times, but the duration flips from long to short, so it is SLS - LSL - ..., and there are some embellishments on top of that.

Pretty easy to think about it, but seems hard to hit notes on time. Perhaps, I need to count...

I think I got the backing track alright? I even put all the random crash hits where they seem to be in the original track😅 Will try to put some guitars on top of it tomorrow, but I'll probably suck badly compared to Meshuggah.

Finally got a chance to give Meshuggah's “Do Not Look Down” a go with an actual guitar and here's the result: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo3qMf-Meu8

I missed quite a few beats (especially closer to the end), but I think I'm satisfied with how far I got after a day of recording takes of it. It is an immensely fun song to play even if it is a bit hard to hit every beat!

@zkat I just got back to Safari after years on Firefox iOS. Tabs are a bit more weird than in Firefox, but otherwise it is way too smooth...

@thisismissem @signalapp sorry about that! It shouldn’t be like that. Do you think you and your contact could get debug logs for us to take a look? ( https://support.signal.org/hc/en-us/articles/360007318591-Debug-Logs-and-Crash-Reports ). A message time stamp for that not delivering message would be super helpful too!

@thisismissem lol. I can imagine them thinking that they should "overhire" to get as many great engineers they can and then "shrink" to get rid of those they didn't like. It is a vicious cycle, really!

Finally learning how to skateboard! I’m really awkward at it, but can build decent speed while cruising already.

As a side note, it is interesting that skateboarding is forbidden in so many places in US. Sometimes it also feels like other people are not entirely friendly to skaters. Is it just me or is it some cultural thing that I don’t know much about?

Here's a fun one for folks: when using the cluster module, how do you get the total count of connections to a net.Server?

Because it's not getConnections, that seems to only return the number of connections for the current fork, as increasing the cluster fork number but keeping the connection load the same sees the number of connections decrease proportionally to the cluster fork number.

This seems to be a bug in Node.js, but I don't yet have reproducible code to prove it.

@thisismissem "current forks" sounds accurate. I don't believe it is possible to get the total number of established connection on socket cross-platform.

Got to Level 8 of ! It is definitely getting a bit harder since there is way more content from the previous levels that gets into queue from time to time. However, I start to recognize more and more kanji in the books that I have.

Level 10 is certainly the closest goal right now!

Just got to Level 10 of

Tons and tons of very useful vocabulary that I keep encountering while reading 鬼滅の刃 and in my bunpro studies. I feel like the first levels had an aim of teaching you all the different basic radicals, and didn't really focus on common vocabulary, but now things changed for sure!

Next goal - level 20 😅 I leveled up every 16 days so, I guess it will take me 5-6 months to get there. I started to study 15 vocabulary entries per day so we'll see!

Level 11 of !

New animation is quite fancy, but email that they sent is as poignant as usual.

Tons and tons of useful kanji and vocabulary, and even though we are getting into "painful" territory so far it seemed to get a bit easier. In fact, I crammed a bit and got to next level in 15 days because I learned 30 vocabulary per day for a few remaining days of my vacation. I'll probably continue the trend during weekends, so we'll see how it goes!
