@ivory Minor gripe: is there a way that the Mentions tab can be marked as read if the corresponding Notification has been read?

@niclake This is just a temporary issue as we plan to get rid of the mentions tab once we finish all the work that needs to be done in the notifications tab.

@ivory It would be super cool if there was a keyboard shortcut to go to 'newest unread post'. Ivory seems to know what this is. Sometimes when I open Ivory, I will start scrolling before it syncs the unread position. But then once it finishes syncing, Ivory will not forcibly switch your current position to newest unread post (unless you haven't already started scrolling). But once you get to the newest unread post, Ivory knows it because it will start to show the unread badge.

@interestingmonkey cmd-up arrow should do that. It is supposed to stop at the last unread first.

@ivory for some reason my theme randomly changes from the pink I've set it to, back to red (default), any ideas why?

@thisismissem 2-finger swipe up and down switches between themes. You can turn that gesture off in the behavior settings if it bothers you.

@arandomselection No, but good news! They only take 20%. 😅

No plans for Bluesky at this time, but that doesn't mean it won't ever happen. We are too busy and focused on Mastodon right now.

@arandomselection You don't. Testflight's subscription is fake and you have to go through it. It's a sandboxed environment so it has no access to your real subscription nor a real payment system. It's all for testing purposes.

@ivory Do there happen to be any known issues posting edited video clips? I downloaded a video from the Xbox app, trimmed it in Photos, then tried to post it and got the screenshotted error.

I’ve tried force quitting Ivory and Photos, and tried duplicating the video on the theory the photo picker had gotten confused and that a fresh copy of the video would unstick things… No such luck.

@Ragashingo The only thing we could think of is your iPad could be low on disk space? Ivory keeps a copy of the file until it posts and it's possible the file isn't getting written because of disk space? If that's not the case, go to Ivory's settings, then support and hit the contact us button. Send us an email through that with a brief description and it should attach logs for us to look at.

@Ragashingo One thing you can try if you think it's on the server side is trying to send through either the website or official mastodon client. Or one of the other 3rd party clients. 🙂

@Ragashingo I think this might be a permissions issue. Shows that you didn't give Ivory sufficient access to your photo library. Maybe check your privacy settings for photos and make sure Ivory can access them.

@Ragashingo What version of Ivory are you running on your iPad? And maybe compare the settings you have on your iPhone for that with the iPad? I'm guessing that limited access you have set on iPad is what's causing it, but not sure why it's all grayed out.

@ivory I can't seem to figure out how to set up a column for a persistent, ideally live-updating search for a hashtag on desktop. I can get another column and set it to the right hashtag, but it resets to the base Hashtag tab every time the app is hidden/shown or closed/reopened.

Not sure if that's a limitation or just how it's currently set, but I would love that option in the future.

Or maybe I should try experimenting with a timeline composed of multiple hashtags and seeing if that works?

@lokan Probably a mastodon limitation. You can test by uploading to the website directly and seeing if you get the results you are looking for.

@ivory is it possible to have my timeline load at the top/latest post by default? I check pretty infrequently and typically have hundreds/or thousands of unread posts and just end up tapping to go to the top anyways 😅

@ivory If I may provide some input for your awesome app:

The information I am missing most from the profile view is the profile creation date. This field is essential for me when evaluating whether a new follower is a legitimate person, or one of those newly created profiles which Russia uses to influence the opinion.

If the profile is less than a week old, that becomes part of my evaluation of the profile’s legitimace. On the other hand, three year old profiles are almost never spammers.

@colinstu It's a known bug that's been fixed for the next update. But the next update is going to be big so there's just a lot of things we need to get through before we can push it. We know this is frustrating, but appreciate your patience. 🙏

What tips do you have for folks thinking of trying out Mastodon during this year?

3 of my tips:

  1. Follow the hashtag (yes you can follow a hashtag just like following a profile!)
  2. If you post and realize you forgot the hashtag, don't delete your post. Just edit it!
  3. Consider following the hashtag also. Many folks use it without realizing that is the official one.

What tips do you have?

@bitprophet This is something that should be out in the next update. It was supposed to ship with our hashtags update earlier this year, but was delayed a bit.

@ivory how can I mute an account on a list for e.g. a week when they are already muted by “filter user from home”?

@slowbiex So when you do the quick time-based mute, by default it only mutes from your home timeline. You have to go and add other places to mute them in the their mutes settings.

If you are on Ivory’s TestFlight, you should be able to try out our brand new share sheet on iOS and Mac. It's not perfect, but should be a huge improvement! Give it a try and let us know what you think.

You can access it by going to a page in your browser (or an image in your photo library), hitting the share icon, and then choosing Ivory's icon from the list.

@deanfx We will occasionally open up access to more users. Just have to keep an eye out for those posts. You can always turn on push notifications for our account as we generally don't spam our followers with a bunch of posts.
