Weird science. You wonder why some future society would be keen to develop science to bring deceased 80somethings back from death. What's in it for them?
@timrichards yeah like in the very unlikely event it became possible they might bring back a few to prove they can but it hardly seems worth their effort to bring back all the frozen bodies
We're only on the third song, and we've already had two sung in languages other than English. A good omen for the rest of the night, hopefully. #SBSEurovision
I was wondering about the longest domestic trip you could do by air in Australia. Glancing online, it looks like flying from the Cocos Islands in the Indian Ocean to Norfolk Island in the Pacific (via Perth and Sydney) would take about 12 hours flying time, not factoring in the transit time at airports. That would be one long trek!
Kinda cool to see a stream train on the #melbourne Metro network but I have questions about who thought it was okay to run it under the southern cross roof where it made the air visibly dirty
Love waking up to find out six hours ago someone edited a toot I’d boosted to say something wildly different and kinda problematic. There should be a limit to how much you can edit toots that have been boosted. Fix a typo? Absolutely. Totally change the content? No
@jedsetter it’s possible some servers have worked out how to set up stricter rules but the standard is it lets you edit and then notifies the people who boosted you of the edit
@stib@jedsetter as is you can easily unboost it. I think the big problem is a lot of people aren’t here all the time and/or are flooded with other notifications so a maliciously edited boost could easily sit on their profile for days before they notice
The big price rises at cafes and restaurants are helping me save money, because there are red lines I will not cross.
Eg I'm not paying more than $15 for a sandwich or $25 for a pub/cafe main. And I'm definitely not paying double figures for a slice of cake! Jesus.
Pubs and bars are getting a bit cheeky with pricing zero-alcohol beers too. I don't mind $9-$10 for a Heaps Normal, but no way am I paying $12. It's soft drink after all, get real.
@timrichards or a convenience store. I like a slurpie as much as anyone but I’m baffled as to how the CBD sustains so many, especially since there’s mini supermarkets with usually better prices
