So the web hosting provider I've had for 20+ years recently changed hands.

I got the yearly invoice the other month, paid it and didn't think much about it. But now I've gotten another one and see that they're now charging me the yearly invoice price every month (now ~$115 for a 5GB plan on a shared server).

Help me out here, that seems steep even in this economy?

I got on Bluesky yesterday, and so far my impressions: 1) The What’s Hot feed hasn’t updated for 9+ hours (while you can pick additional feed algos, some of them seem broken, also not sure of the underlying logic behind them), 2) What is up with the spacing at the top of the iOS app, 3) The activity there otherwise seems forced.

One thing Tinder does not tell you about Tinder Select (the new 499/mo USD plan) is that encountering a Select profile is, uh, quite attention getting:

• your phone shakes and vibrates;
• a Select icon animation on your profile flashes and flies around for a brief second.

I’m guessing the special effects can be switched off, but still…
