Hey #SFBA folks, a quick request… I’m starting to look at housing in the city #SF, and if you have any leads (even if it’s an “I love my neighborhood because…” type of comment) that would be great. 🥰
I don’t need a roommate, but I do need a place that accepts cats and has in unit laundry (which apparently is a very limiting factor). Not sure where to start my search other than the usual online portals.
@thomas I follow some German speakers purposely to passively improve my reading comprehension. (I would follow more Italian speakers, but I haven’t seen as many.)
As for the translation feature, I’m on mastodon.social and using Ice Cubes as my phone client, and a high percentage of fedi posts I see have native translation. For the few that don’t have it supported, I can usually use native iOS right click or copy/paste into Google Translate.
I am feeling quiet today, mostly because I was in the emergency room all night.
Going through my thyroid debacle and fighting with the doctor's office about the bill has been pretty stressful.
Thursday night, I noticed a change in my vision. I have these floating spots of distortion. It looks like something is coming towards my eye. When the eye started to feel swollen and the white of my eye started turning red, I called the doctor, who told me to go to the ER.
My right eye is pretty unhappy.
The consensus is that this is probably stress and will resolve itself. If it doesn't, I will head to Santa Rosa for expery eye help.
Right now, I have nurse Summer keeping me close.
I sometimes wonder if LLMs are this generation’s self driving cars? A decade ago self driving cars were so promising it was assumed they were 90% of the way to being ubiquitous. But now it looks like the last 10% of the work is taking 90% of the time.
LLMs work well 90% of the time. The question is how hard will it be to address that last 10%?
@carnage4life Kinda funny, the founder I'm working with now used to be an engineer at one of those self driving startups.
But if you ask him about where the big problem is, he would say that last 10% is a data quality issue. You need to be working with good quality data no matter whatever techniques you're using - RAG, fine-tuning, etc.
@estherschindler An ex-beau of my daughter’s worked for SocGen here in the US, and we just eventually gave up any pretense in trying to pronounce the name, and would call it “a French investment bank.”
LOL someone looking to give away black goldfish. Curious if someone did not approve of their feng shui and introduced them in there when someone wasn't looking (apparently black goldfish are symbolic in feng shui).
Amazing lunch pizza from Lebbers at Tin City just south of Paso Robles. Paired with an exceptional Chenin Blanc from the Hubba winery next to the pizza oven. #wine#PasoRobles
