Sadly another example of how a binary yes/no referendum is not a good way to solve long-running issues. If you're polling high enough to be confident of winning it might work, but anything below 60% seems risky, and even if you scrape over the line a significant minority will be angry with the result. Better to build consensus for legislative change I think.

This is the first color image of Mars from Mariner 4.

They printed out the data feed and colored it (with crayon?) according to the numbers.

It blows my mind that at this time a lot of well educated people were expecting to find signs of sophisticated & intelligent life on Mars.

I hit 'follow all' on #Threads for my Instagram social graph and I'm getting notified when every user gets followed after joining or follows me. It's pretty exciting watching people join one by one as they slowly board the ship headed to the fediverse and feels surreal that them being on here, previously a pipe dream, will actually soon be a reality. There couldn't have possibly been a better vessel than Meta for instantly onboarding people onto the fediverse, and would've otherwise taken years.
