Jacko and Quince are convalescing together in the recovery enclosure, but they briefly reunited with the main crew today for snacks and supervised playtime. Everyone was very happy to see each other.

We're trying a new vet's office, the same one that brought Alex back from the brink several months ago. They let us bring in four at once today.

Rocket has the hind leg degeneration, and probably arthritis.

Quincy has a large mass, doing x-ray tomorrow, and surgery if it hasn't spread.

James has a similar lung condition to his brother Alex, and will get a similar treatment.

Nibbles the mouse is scratching himself badly. Doc says maybe psychological, gave him something to relax.

Well, fuck.

Jacko's blood work didn't look good. He's been diagnosed with Lymphocytic Leukemia. He's back at home resting now. We're putting him on rodent chemo, hopefully we'll be able to give him something resembling a normal life for the time he's got left.

He doesn't want to eat or drink, definitely doesn't want to take medicine -- but he will gnaw the ever-living shit out of this dog bone, so I guess that's a good sign.

Rats deserve better. They are the best little friends.

Today Quincy survived surgery, and James survived sedation for a CT scan. Everyone will get a special treat.

This morning, we hospitalized very good boy Jacko for possible pneumonia. It hit very suddenly yesterday, I'm not ready to lose him. 😢

Quincy is on the mend, full of stitches from surgery, looking like Frankenstein's rodent. He does not like to take medicine. He's full of energy and seems happy to be free of the lump.

James' CT scan came back with a large lung mass. He probably won't be with us much longer, but he takes his meds like a champ and seems in good spirits for now.

Jacko survived overnight, and made it through a CT scan. No signs of masses or tumors, which is great. Possibly enlarged spleen, which is not great, but better than cancer. They're doing blood work to learn more.

The doctor is hopeful Jacko can be weaned off of oxygen, and we can bring him home with a bag of rat drugs tonight. I sure hope so, because he is missed dearly by us and his crew! Jacko is among our most sociable critters.

Have I mentioned: Rats are really expensive.

@Onsequitur It's using Noisemaker, a command-line 2D procedural rendering pipeline which I cooked up. At its heart, it's just mixing up classic noise and procgen algorithms, often resulting in happy accidents.
