Just finished the most meta book I’ve probably ever read. The Extinction of Irena Rey is a novel in the form of a translator’s account of when their author disappears during a translation summit.
The author, Jennifer Croft, is an award-winning translator known for working with Polish Nobel laureate Olga Tocarczuk.
Do I recommend this book? Yes? It takes a lot of brain power though
📍 Inasal Chicken Bacolod at Gyud Food Market, UP Diliman Food Hub
I'm still very surprised at how much the campus has changed in recent years. Gyud Food Market, a huge food court with a variety of offerings that are sortaaa above student budget, was unimaginable during my undergraduate days.
@pixiecata@teacherbuknoy There's also electric scent diffusers. Got ours from Zen Zest, and it automatically turns off after a certain number of hours (depending on the size). May light din sya so it doubles as a lamp.
@faticake "...said FBI spokesman Paul Holstein, showing reporters graffiti tags in which the word “anti-social” had been corrected to read “antisocial.”
Honestly, I just wanna go back to designing and writing marketing websites that I have full control over. I wanna do the design, the development, the deployment, and the timeline. Give me the vibe you want, and the content you need to put in it, and I'll get it done, and I'll have fun doing it.
This entire thing of me managing people + handling projects from the back end + taking up extra projects on the side using tech I don't like is exhausting me.
@teacherbuknoy That's the trade-off of senior roles: more people management and less of the actual tasks that we deem enjoyable (given that management isn't one's cup of tea).
Perhaps it would help feed your creativity if you take on small projects on the side (if your company and schedule allow that)?
I am currently loving this Micke desk from IKEA. It's just spill proof I think. I don't know anything about carpentry, but the way the entire thing is coated makes spills really easy to wipe off with cloth. Stains are also easily wiped away with just a bit of water.
It's also very sturdy and doesn't easily shake when I bump into it.
