23 pages of manure (literally, sometimes. I hate manure) that is the extreme-right Dutch Agreement can contain interesting stuff nevertheless. For there's two sentences (both on page 9):

  1. 'In the border regions, good rail connections with the neighboring country are essential.'
  2. ´There will be a proposal for cross-border rail transport, including the connection of five train stations to international HSL lines (e.g. Hengelo, Venlo, Heerlen, Groningen and Zwolle).' (1/3).

@jon @patrick From Gronau through traffic beyond Enschede? I doubt it. At Enschede, trains arriving from Gronau end up on track 4b - carefully separated by buffers from track 4a which is used by trains. Maybe this is for the sake of access barriers shielding the NS platforms, but on the other hand preventing efficiently through-going traffic from DE to NL.

@bovine3dom @jon Ah, that‘s the reason, thx. But SNCF‘s approach to solving the problem (closed tunnel) is IMHO „misrouted“ literally: They could learn from Trenitalia and route TERs between Nice and Tende via Ventimiglia-Breil 😉

2 weeks after I book the Travemünde-Malmö ferry, and a X2000 train Malmö C-Stockholm C, SJ decides it will run the Berlin-Hamburg-Stockholm night train on the night I need it after all 🤬

But now it's too late to change my plans, so I will stick to the ferry

@jon SJ and/or it’s accomplice Trafikverket apparently don‘t care about customers needs when it comes to reliable travel plans, say 3 months in advance.

I need to catch the Inlandsbanan in mid-july (already booked). But still no bookable connection Germany-Sweden.

When does SJ release their tickets?
You can book tickets until June 3 2024.
Tickets for SJ EuroNight are able for purchase until June 2 2024

@jon Thx for your solidarity. Booked overnight ferry Travemünde-Malmö (flexible conditions) as I don‘t have nerves of steel…
The SJ EuroNight would be my first choice though.

But what an attitude to work has the Trafikverket director? If it‘s not hard, everyone could do his job. In hard times we can demonstrate our skills…

@sebwilken @jon Gibt es auf dieser Brücke wirklich „grenzüberschreitenden Personenzugverkehr“? Ich dachte, die Züge aus Richtung Luleå enden in Haparanda, auch wenn die Brücke Normalspur und Breitspur kann.
BTW: Die Uhren auf beiden Seiten ticken ja anders, aber der (finnische) Busfahrplan Richtung Kemi gibt die Abfahrt auf der schwedischen Seite in finnischer Zeit an 🧐
Man sollte sich also nicht zu lange im IKEA aufhalten, sonst ist der Bus schon weg…

Called ÖBB‘s customer service yesterday. They admitted some struggle to open online bookings from December, 10.
I couldn‘t book via nightjet.com and was provided advice to book via https://shop.oebbtickets.at as nightjet.com is just a sort of overlay.
But even there: No bookings available for most connections in early 2024.
