The catalogue of the 2019 exhibition of the medieval manuscripts at Keio University is now available as a PDF:

Better images of the MSS have also been put online:

More attempts to get my Rossi blogposts deleted have been fruitless; Google has reinstated all of them.

When I have time I'll be putting the blogposts on my own webspace and ensuring that they are archived and indexed, so that they can be read in perpetuity.

Most people who follow me here probably do so because of the affair that played out at the end of 2022 and early 2023.

I have tried to ignore the plagiarist Carla Rossi as much as possible for the past 6 months, but she has been unrelenting in her gaslighting and publishing of new lies online in the interim, so I have written a new blogpost to highlight her recent behaviour:

Since I'm stuck inside again, tell me a podcast I should listen to.

There can be only one! You get one choice, don't give me a list of 5, I can't do it.

Give me an episode that you think best represents the podcast.

@RickiTarr I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Love + Radio yet.
It's hard to describe, but essentially each episode is about a different kind of human relationship. It's hard to recommend a single episode, but maybe try this one: https://loveandradio.org/2015/03/the-living-room/

This week's blogpost (in which I identify a text that has eluded scholars for more than a century):

"Inclitus" Identified

@shandyist @bookhistodons A.N.L. Munby, Connoisseurs and Medieval Miniatures 1750-1850 (Oxford, 1972) traces changing attitudes to, and increasing interest in, illumination.

My impression is that many 18th-cent. booksellers would have had at least one illuminated 13th-cent. Bible or 15th-cent. Book of Hours in stock; so if by "average 18th-cent. reader" you mean "the sort of person who went to bookshops in teh 18th cent.", then I would imagine that most of them were aware of illuminated MSS.

@erik_kwakkel suggested that I introduce myself.
I've mainly worked in the library and museum world, but have been freelance since 2006.
There's a bio on my page here: http://manuscripts.org.uk/
I blog at https://mssprovenance.blogspot.com/ to share observations/discoveries that are not worth the time and effort that traditional academic publishing would require.
I like to think that I am an approachable and friendly introvert, but as one good friend once observed, I have "a low bullshit-tolerance threshold"!
