So, this is an idea I've had for a bit, and maybe see how far I get. I watch a fair bit of OldSchol RuneScape content on YouTube, and for the next several days, I have nothing but time on my hands.

I'm curious on how hard as an entirely new player on F2P it would be to successfully earn enough to buy membership in game (about 7M gold). I've never really gotten into MMOs before, but I've got RuneLite setup, and well, guess I'm ready to dig in.

Trying to figure out what to write about illumos is difficult, because for me personally, the entire experience has been pretty terrible from start to finish.

That said, I really don't want to shit on a project that appears to be struggling with commercial support, and frankly, I'm not exactly playing to its strengths.

As I'm using it, its basically still just SVR4 UNIX, and I'm ignoring the advancements based in ZFS, Dtrace, etc.

What frustrates the shit out of me is that illumos (and, if I'm fair, other OSes like Darwin), do not use clean isolation in their build process -- chroots or equivalents aren't used, so the entire thing has to be built upon itself.

In theory, illumos actually has better capabilities than Linux since it has zones and ZFS out of the box, while Linux is limited to chroot jails. However, you can't fucking build illumos unless your host system and src tree are close in ver 1/

Watching Dragon Ball Super, and unexpected Linux kernel source code shows up on screen.

(appears to be kernel/groups.c based on the EXPORT_SYMBOL line which is clear enough to read)

Waking up and finding a Content ID strike for a piece of music that doesn't even sound like whats on air.

I've actually won content ID disputes before, but I've never gotten flagged on content that's been up for months at this point.

Does anyone remember the last time they had a conversation on a train or bus?

I was on the train earlier today. I've recently been taking steps to drastically reduce my phone/Internet time, and I was just taken how literally everyone I could see was looking at their phone or had AirPods blasting.

Unsettling doesn't even describe the experience ...

I wrote about 700 words on my first attempt of a script on my recent illumos experiences. Its difficult to know what I should include.

I may just let this sit for a few weeks before coming back to it, because frankly, my first two drafts were turning into rants before I erased them and started over.

I also don't know if a technique critique would be useful, and I'm struggling not to be overly negative given the absolutely warm reception I got from the OpenIndian maintainer.
