Hi, I used to use Instander to browse Instagram privately but it doesn’t seem to be updated anymore, is there an alternative that you recommend that has similar features? Like “ghost mode” when watching stories
My optiplex with i5-6500TE can transcode 4K videos easily if the codec is AVC. HEVC is different story though. Any CPU newer than 10th generation would be more than enough for your needs, I’d say.
Trying to keep my very picky eater 3yo healthy as we’re (hopefully) expanding his diet. Right now the only foods I can get him to actually eat are McDonald’s, a specific brand of yogurt, banana bread, some crackers and some bars. Refuses any beverage besides water. (He’s likely on the spectrum.)
GIMP is very different, but Krita is quite similar. Pretty sure you won’t miss much. However, I am not an advanced user, so, I cannot say for certain. Also, some shortcuts are different. But do try Krita. It is awesome.
My current setup is an old MacBook woth 2 external HDDs, and I am almost happy with it, for now. I just saw this mini PC on Amazon and I am considering buying it, just to try out a new thing. I think it is cheap (~22 USD)....
Used a couple of US recipes recently and most of the ingredients are in cups, or spoons, not by weight. This is a nightmare to convert. Do Americans not own scales or something? What’s the reason for measuring everything by volume?
When people post YouTube links… is there a cool open source way to watch it on mobile without going through youtube? Because when I click on a YouTube link and I’m on my phone and it immediately gives me an ad it’s pissing me off like in a huge way… is there a way to bypass ads without an ad blocker on my phone
If on Android, use UntrackMe. When clicking on any YouTube link, or even Reddit, Twitter etc., select this app to open the link with. It will automatically redirect you to a privacy friendly frontend. Link YouTube to Invidious. You can customise the instances you want to use.
Everywhere online now, every movie, every home video, has been passed through so many filters that people don’t look human any more. Nobody has any lines in their face, their teeth are florescent white, their eyes are filled in and have no veins. Nobody ever looks tired, or natural. Add to the mix the fact that everyone is...
Right. If I talk about Bollywood, many old actors, that are 50+, are still portraying roles of men in 30s. For example, Akshay Kumar’s skin in almost every new film is smoothed out to give him a younger look, Slaman Khan always has 6-8 pack abs even though he is sightly fatter in reality, etc.
I’ve thinking about purchasing Proton Mail Plus only and just only to have IMAP support, but I’ve looked all the features that the Proton Unlimited Plan have, and honestly I believe it’s worth, but I hate having all the eggs in the same basket....
I was using Protonmail, and their other services, and was a paying customer for over a year. But I stopped because of their poor Linux support, and not being able to receive email notifications on my de-googled phone. I made a shift to mailbox.org and am liking it. Yes, I have to manage my own PGP keys, but the experience is much better, in my opinion. Their storage even supports WebDAV. I can encrypt the whole inbox and the files stored in their drive with my own key.
But I miss their VPN service, which was good, but still, poor Linux support is what I hated the most.

A while ago one of my old accounts got banned from r/news for saying I wouldn't bone some celebrity. Now if I forget and comment on a front page post with any account this happens. (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
Self-hosted Jellyfin CPU or GPU for 4K HDR transcoding?
Hey everyone, I’m building a new server to run Jellyfin (with a few other services like Pi-hole) and I’m stuck on GPU or CPU transcoding....
I want to buy PineTime, but "Package cannot be shipped to your country due to logistical reasons."
I live in India, how can get one? Any secure way of using a proxy address, which is also trusted....
[Serious] Do you know of any processed snack foods with some vitamins?
