:neocat: What are you playing rn?
:neofox__w: New gacha
:neocat: Still playing gachas huh? What keeps you invested?
:neofox__w: The ability to skip most of the dialogue and fights.
:neocat: Skip? Most of the game? Do you even like these games?
:neofox__w: Oh yes immensely. I just can't be bothered with the vast majority of the content.
:neocat: You just wanna look at pretty 2d dolls huh?
:neofox__w: Yes. That is all I want.

@neatchee @bluecaller or at that point just google "pretty anime girls" and download the ones you want

(or use mudae in a discord server with friends to collect pngs of your already-fav anime characters and sidestep gacha business practices entirely)

ive been using gnome for a day and already someone has tried to gatekeep me about it

linux community :)

@pixel@urusai.social avatar

Not gonna lie part of the reason I didn't want to initially use gnome is that I don't like that the icon is a foot

@pixel@urusai.social avatar

goddamnit im a puppygirl that uses arch (manjaro)

nothing original under the sun

@pixel@urusai.social avatar

jesus christ

after switching from KDE to Gnome, I still don't get firefox to focus itself when opening a link from discord.

This is ridiculous

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@neatchee oh my god its apparently "intended" wayland behavior

im gonna lose it

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@neatchee there's something in gnome's just perfection that lets me force that behavior but wow that's awful lol

pixel, to random
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

okay gnome is much better (for me, obviously) than kde

kde is nice but it's so fiddly, gnome with a few extensions is genuinely gorgeous and got to a point where it was doing most of what my windows desktop was doing almost immediately

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster just perfection has meaningfully improved the experience of using linux to the point where i immediately enjoy this more than using my windows desktop. exception there being that i really enjoy compatibility for all the games i play, but having both rules :)

i wish gnome wasn't so locked down out of the box, the "appearance" tab in the settings menu is particularly embarrassing, but I'm loving it otherwise. Feels much smoother than kde, by a lot

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster also, weird funny bug that affected how i customized my desktop

Dash to dock's "use keyboard shortcuts to activate apps" toggle is broken, and doesn't do anything

but dash to panel's isn't, which is INCREDIBLY bizarre

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster weird that it works with dash to panel, though

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster okay do you mind if I pester you to help configure something I really need but am getting a bit out of my depth in terms of setting up? lmao

i want to set up hibernation but i suuuuper dont know enough about linux to be able to do this confidently lmao

pixel, to random
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

tbh i might just reinstall manjaro and use gnome because im kind of not fond of how kde looks, and i care a lot about how my computer looks while im using it lol

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster do you have any recommendations for extensions worth using?

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster okay immediately, is there a way to change system scale to 125%? I only see a setting for 100% and 200% scale, which is not useful lmao

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster okay i got it, now im trying to tinker with just perfection but im not sure how to get it up and running @_

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster okay dope now one last question

pamac (i'm on manjaro) has a notification icon on it despite me not having anything that needs updating. what do i do LOL

pixel, to linux
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

hey and people on the fediverse, I'd appreciate some help --

I installed polonium recently and wasn't super happy with some of its functionality so I reverted to just using kde as is, but now i'm having some weird behavior where clicking on a hyperlink in discord won't focus firefox to display the link I just clicked on. Is there any way to easily flush old kwin script settings that might be interfering still? I'm not sure where that would live and I'd appreciate help because I really don't want to re-install manjaro but that's the best I got right now lol

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@raptor85 I was there, it didn't end up working when I unchecked hence me seeking out help

do you know what setting would be causing this behavior specifically? Because I can track that down and address this behavior there

pixel, to random
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

linux is fun until a basic functionality you use regularly stops working how you want it to and the solution is nestled between like five esoteric settings and the ones that seem like they'd fix your problem don't do anything

weeeeeeee

hey users on the fediverse, is there a way to tile windows on KDE Plasma 6? I've seen some stuff about Bismuth but it doesn't look like it's functional anymore, is there anything similar?

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@the_green_paper I'm looking for a low maintenance option tbh, I'm relatively tech savvy but also I'm new to Linux and don't want to overwhelm myself

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@BoydStephenSmithJr on windows I use power toys to get some light tiling tools and tiling as a layer on top of a more traditional window system is so flexible that I really, really enjoy it and I'm hoping I can achieve a similar workflow

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@2d is there a way to position windows into their layout locations with hotkeys instead of relying on click and drag?

Which would make a better blunt weapon?

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@bass as someone that's disassembled like a lot of Nintendo hardware, people forget that the guitar hero guitar is just plastic and the Wii balance board has a fucking aluminum frame inside it
