If you have reddit coins that are about to go to waste... I would search for a "fuck u/spez" post and award it as much as you can

A little extra traffic will go to reddit… but fuck them. They’re taking monetary value away from your account, so ya might as well use the coins you have as you see fit (while you still can). Fuck u/spez and fuck reddit

realitista,

I gave away 26 Reddit golds on /r/redditalternatives

realitista,

That’s just one city though. I’m sure it’s different for cities with a lot of manufacturing or whatnot.

realitista,

It takes a little while to get everything moved over and working the way you want to, but for me it’s the superior browser. I get better performance especially on older devices and there are a lot of core things like bookmark handling that are better on Firefox.

realitista,

I use mine quite a lot. I have a weather dashboard, and the forecasts from my weather station are second to none, way more accurate than any other option. I also use them in a lot of automations. Many of which are here, the python script described there is using a lot of weather data to make decisions about whether to keep the heat lower in the morning or not. Saves me pretty good money on heating.

realitista,

Wouldn’t it be far more effective just to put Wi-Fi routers in said street lamps though? You’d almost certainly need far fewer of them for the same coverage.

realitista,

I wish that all the damn news sites would band together and make a Spotify for news. Or just let me pay a few cents for each article. I’m not gonna go subscribe to 50 news sites.

Chip wars: The escalating battle between EU, US, and China for tech supremacy (thenextweb.com)

Signs of an escalating chip trade war were evident already in October last year. Now, a set of new strategic measures have further ignited the conflict, raising fears over the stability of the global supply chain, and even threatening to derail the EU’s green transition.

Horizon Will Be Around For A Long Time, As Guerrilla Games Has Plenty Of Plans In The Pipeline (www.gamespot.com)

(…) Guerrilla Games says it still has plenty of content in the pipeline for that PlayStation series. Speaking at Develop: Brighton, studio director Jan-Bart van Beek said that Guerrilla has around “16 plans” in development for the franchise....

realitista,

I hope they make it through to the end of all 3 books. It seems like a Herculean task to wrangle these books into something made for tv.

realitista,

My main problem with them is how the politics just drag on and on and how long winded some of the descriptions are.

I never made it through them reading them, it wasn’t until I went audiobook and just accepted that my brain would fall asleep for stretches of it that I made it through.

There’s some genius in there but it really takes some wading through the mud to get there.

The TV series is showing some promise that they will be able to wrangle this sprawling spaghetti into some sort of form that’s fit for TV. I will be very impressed if they pull it off.

realitista,

Just give me cash for my 16 years of karma so I can fuck off to Lemmy, kthx.

realitista,

Many PDA’s, a few DVD recorders. No WebTV or 3d TV. A few Raspberry Pi’s and my car’s head unit can play internet radio.

realitista,

Yes! Love it! Raise the taxes on obese vehicles too!

realitista,

This is a good point. As a 16 year Reddit user, the digg migration was really the beginning of the long end. Going slow is indeed the best way. And honestly, being big is not even necessarily a good thing for this type of community.

realitista,

I suspect he may be grooming Pregozin to take over the presidency. Maybe Putin’s health is failing. If Putin really orchestrated all this, it’s one of the only scenarios that explains it well.

realitista,

Um, this is exactly why we don’t want you in the EU, Erdogan. Last thing we need is you blocking everything that everyone else in the EU agrees upon.

I miss the dark ages sometimes

As in no internet, cell phones or computers. Being born in '74, I was lucky enough to know what it meant to go outside, build a fort, play and mess around. Getting the exercise without knowing it. (riding a bike for example, or running to a friend’s house). Drinking out of the hose on a hot summer day after running around in...

realitista,

It’s amazing how much of our childhoods were spent bored completely out of our minds. Boredom can be a great motivator.

realitista,

So basically buy a $4k machine and you can barely eek out 60fps on some games. Better than nothing for sure but probably still cheaper just to buy an extra PC on the side for gaming unless you already have a very high end Mac.
