Xbox is offering voluntary severance agreements to producers, quality assurance testers and other staff at ZeniMax as part of a broader cost-cutting initiative
Interesting problem here. So I self host jellyfin, happy to share my (owned) movies with my family. Well, my mother has asked me to digitize her collection too and have me host it. Originally, fine, you give your movies to me, I host them, same thing....
So, I’ve got a weird question. Anyone had a club faction split? Our club is sponsored by a brewery owner. He’s been super restrictive about what other breweries we work with, banning interaction with 99% of other breweries. Some of our members are discussing forming a splinter group just so we can do stuff without asking his...
I’ve known for years that Gene Roddenberry wrote lyrics for Theme from Star Trek so that he could receive 50% of the royalties, but it never occurred to me that I should try and find out what those lyrics were. However, the lyrics did come up recently in a nerdy trivia show I watch, “Uhm, Actually”, and now that I know...
The Phillies TV announcers just need to talk more about deadly serious and sobering topics during his at bats. Bring up a school shooting or two to get those numbers up.

Home Assistant can track device location using the companion app (iOS and Android). It would take a little work to save more than the default amount of information, but it’s extremely do-able.
“It is soulless. There is no personality to it. There is no voice. Read a bunch of dialogue in an AI generated story and all the dialogue reads the same. No character personality comes through,” she said. Generated text also tends to lack a strong sense of place, she’s observed; the settings of the stories are either...
So, I tried using Google Bard Gemini to help write one-line Character Background descriptions for a 5e supplement I’m trying to write. I specifically feed it the longform descriptions and features I’ve already written and ask it to summarize. The output I get is so foreign and detached from my “voice,” it’s totally unusable.
Even when giving it more than you want to get out, it can’t produce acceptable results. I can only imagine the drek this lady is being inundated with, and it makes me sad.
The only success I’ve had so far is telling it, “pluralize X in this paragraph,” in places where I wrote something like, “A Painter paints for a living,” and want it to be, “Painters paint for a living.” (I’m pretty sure Microsoft Word could do this shit in the 90s.)
In PF1, you’d just slap NPC classes on them until they hit somewhere near the Average Party Level. When I ran PF1 games, the sidekick would start around APL, and then start gaining XP with the party on their way to their first level of a PC class. Ricky the Redeemed Bugbear War3/Bar1 type stuff.
In D&D5E, specifically in TCE, it looks like they brought back a simplified version of NPC classes (Expert, Spellcaster, Warrior). I haven’t used these rules - all my players have adopted are magical beasts which scale differently.
Both of these systems are doing the same thing:
Nerf a player class
apply that class until they have parity with the players in terms of HP/Level
make sure they can’t outshine the actual PCs.
IMO there’s nothing wrong with just building a PC and saying “Their level is the average party level minus 2” and don’t factor them into awarding XP or treasure gen.
If it weren’t for the last season of Game of Thrones, the last 35 minutes of Mass Effect 3 would still be #1 on my list of “fastest ways to rapidly obliterate everything your fans love, retroactively, forever.” Somehow the Star Wars Prequels are #3.
