@atpfm When you’re a subscriber to the bootleg feed and it expires, you still get episodes in the feed but the free ones instead. How can I tell which episodes are not the bootleg feeds? @caseyliss @siracusa @marcoarment

  1. I subscribe to the bootleg feed. Subscription is active. Overcast downloads the bootleg episode automatically every week (my setting, I don’t stream them).

  2. Subscription lapses. Overcast still has the custom bootleg feed set to auto download. But because there is no active subscription, the feed will download the regular episodes instead.

  1. I now have e.g. 30 episodes to catch up on and some were auto downloaded when the subscription was active while others are from after it lapsed, so not bootlegs but the „free” edited versions, all from the custom bootleg feed.

How do I tell which are bootlegs and which aren’t? I need to replace the ones that aren’t bootlegs with bootlegs after reactivating my subscription.

@moridin I think all this behavior is up to the podcast client. I’m not sure how Overcast deals with it. Maybe @marcoarment knows?

@siracusa @moridin It's actually our CMS.

Every episode in the intervening time HAS a bootleg version, so the easiest answer is probably to just tell your Overcast app to redownload all of the episodes from that intervening time once the subscription is reactivated. Then you'll definitely have the bootleg versions.

@marcoarment I have some follow-up. Now that I’ve resubsribed, which you can see in the screenshot (special episodes downloading), will the „Subscription expired” go away in time or do I need to remove the feed and add it again?
