sparky,

Interesting context. Thanks for sharing:

sparky,

And what does that make Android’s whole point? 😉

sparky,

This; keep in mind that Rexxit is still ongoing and there are a lot of new arrivals here. So it makes sense that the pain of departing Reddit as well as adjustment pains settling into the Fediverse will be a theme for a while. As people get used to the new way of things, I have no doubt these “meta” issues will naturally become stale.

sparky,

Could they have handled this whole situation any worse?

sparky,

what, for real? I thought it had a porthole or something

sparky,

This has happened to a bunch of the communities I created on Lemmyworld. I’ve been trying to ask for help - have created some threads about it and tried DMing the admins - but have never gotten a reply. Not sure what recourse I have, but I get a lot of DMs from users telling me it’s broken.

sparky,

It does look like the admins will have to address this judging by the GitHub issue: github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3075

sparky,

They say the next GallowBoob has already been born...

Need help with odd community naming behaviour - users having trouble joining my communities

I’m new to Lemmy and am pretty confused by a problem I seem to be having; I created a bunch of communities here on lemmy.world, but I’m having a weird issue with the naming of them, and I wonder if you all might be able to help. I tried messaging the admins of Lemmyworld but haven’t gotten a reply....

sparky,

30s for me, but yeah I know what you mean, feels like you start racking up the health problems at an alarming rate

sparky,

Safari is way, way more battery efficient than any other browser. I use Firefox when plugged in but Safari on the go for this reason :-)

Reddit Threatens to Remove Moderators From Subreddits Continuing Apollo-Related Blackouts (www.macrumors.com)

As some subreddits continue blackouts to protest Reddit's plans to charge high prices for its API, Reddit has informed the moderators of those subreddits that it has plans to replace resistant moderation teams to keep spaces "open and accessible to users."

sparky,

Reddit is deaddit. Long live the glorious Lemmy-Kbin Continuum.

sparky,

I can’t say I’m shocked, but I am disappointed. But at the same time - Lemmy/Kbin is the answer. This is the way.

sparky,

It’s exceptionally selfish to cut apart the community and try to promote your own instance while the Lemmyverse as a whole is experiencing a mass influx of users. This will create confusion and frustration at a time that we should be rolling out the red carpet as a community for the Reddit exodus.

sparky,

Parece que temos um mistério… 👻

sparky,

This is an incredibly selfish, dipshit move. They’re trying to prioritise the growth of their own instance at the expense of Lemmy and the Fediverse as a whole, at a time when we should all be banded together to accept the massive influx of departing Redditors.

sparky,

Appoint more moderators on your own instance.

sparky,

I think this is very disappointing, and exceptionally selfish, to split up some of the largest Lemmy communities while a mass Reddit exodus is ongoing. We should be sticking together and trying to grow the Fediverse as a whole, rather than trying to wall off any one single community at this point. That said, I hope this is the end of this approach, and that smaller instances, particularly ones that support a particular community won’t be pushed aside as well (hello from Lemmy Portugal).

sparky,

Depois de um período de ajuste, será muito parecido.

sparky,

Yea, I think that’s pretty indisputable. My sense is a native Apple Silicon + Metal binary would be highly competitive with a higher end Windows machine, but Rosetta + WINE only gets you so far. Hopefully, the fact that every Mac now for sale has a GPU ranging from decent to beefy will make macOS worth targeting for developers.

sparky,

I’m stumped, not sure what I can do without help from the admins to look into it
