Hello everyone. I know that these are tough times for many people. If you derive value from the fediverse and have the means to do so, please consider donating to support your instance. Most instances rely on donations to pay the bills (infosec.exchange and friends cost over $3000/month to host).

Instructions on how to donate are generally available on your instance's "about" page (for example: https://infosec.exchange/about)

Also, I firmly believe that access to the fediverse should not be tied to one's ability to pay, and I think it's even more important for those in difficult situations to maintain the social connections that the fediverse provides, so (at least in my view) donations are welcome, but not required in any way.

And for those people who already donate, my hats off to you. You make the fediverse possible. :blobheartcat:

x43r0,

Hell is other people: performance management at Big Tech - https://lcamtuf.substack.com/p/hell-is-other-people-performance

x43r0,

@lcamtuf “As a manager, in every other 1:1, you hear your subordinates comparing themselves to others and demanding explanations for any perceived slights.”

Wow that sounds incredibly draining.

What would you say are the Great Libraries of the current Internet? Wikipedia, obviously.

Any from the Web 1.0 era? I feel like WebMD was one.

x43r0,

@coachtony i think in their own way, github and predecessors

  • x43r0,

@lcamtuf my understanding is that most targeted zero click exploits against mobile phones use memory corruption vulnerabilities? I’d guess it’s less common for large scale breaches.

Totally agree with you and some other replies that Rust or any other language isn’t a panacea.

    x43r0,

    @lcamtuf agreed

Just spent 30 minutes with the Apple Vision Pro headset and it was wild.

Full write up coming soon. Hit me with all your questions!

    x43r0,

@ChanceHMiller did anyone who gets motion sickness with other VR/AR products try it?

To reenable dnssec or not to reenable dnssec. That is the question...

    x43r0,

@jerry what problem are you trying to solve with dnssec?

    x43r0,

@jerry it seems more likely to cause an outage than improve security. it seems like the only reason to use it is for compliance with regulations, though this isn’t my area of expertise
