@GottaLaff @quincypeck @DemocracyMattersALot @KingShawn you can’t disable the national alert, which is what happened today. You can disable weather, Amber, and I think localized emergency alerts.

@GottaLaff Apple’s page does mention that in some countries you can not disable alerts. A quick search suggests that disabling is not permitted in Canada. That’s likely why the option is not there. If you crossed over into the US I imagine the settings would re-appear.

@jeffjarvis I understand training is necessary the help prevent accidental shootings, but the problem we face isn’t accidental. People aren’t walking into schools, churches, clubs & malls and “accidentally” shooting dozens of people. This violence isn’t happening because they aren’t aware of the dangers of guns and don’t how to handle guns safely; to the contrary the people committing the violence know exactly what they are doing and what the high powered weapons are capable of…

@chiefgyk3d Correct, when you get paid every other week there are two months out of the year where you will get a third paycheck that month. So if you budget around 2 paychecks a month it’s like getting 2 free paychecks those 2 months out of the year, which is pretty nice. In the case of your Roth you are paying more in the year but it has slightly less impact paycheck to paycheck.
