I wonder if there could be a universal subscribed communities + followed users data format people could export before they move instances. Hard part would be getting everyone to use it
I am so sick of employee engagement surveys and the resulting exercise in futility around soliciting changes that never get made. It’s honestly one of the more evil and deceitful processes that capitalism and academia have ever teamed up to create.
Does anyone have advice for how to approach 1:1s with my manager when they ask questions like this? I am extremely burnt out. But I also struggle with not being honest about my feelings (my default is honesty and openness). I don’t want more attention from my manager. I just want to quiet quit and suck down as many paychecks as I can before I get so burnt out that I am forced to quit.
I, much like basically everyone here, have been avoiding Reddit when possible, and the content here just doesn't hit the same. My fried dopamine receptors were certainly screaming for stimulation early on but now I feel an urge to touch grass and breathe fresh air. What is this? Am I dying? I still hate the angry lightbulb in...
Our biased attention means we’ll always feel like we’re living in dark times, and our biased memory means we’ll always feel like the past was brighter.
Agree that the US was more stable back then, but it largely depends on what part of the world you called home. This happened around then, which is one of the most horrific events in human history:
Oh yeah - that reminds me of another thing I don’t miss about reddit: getting to a thread a few hours late and knowing your comment is unlikely to ever be seen under the pile that beat you to it
Yeah. I always enjoyed those threads with random (contest mode) or new sort. Like even the huge SuccessionTV discussion threads I got people seeing my comments because of the sorting, despite there being thousands of comments in the thread
Same here. I had used reddit since 2010 and must have had close to a dozen accounts. I didn’t like too much info piling up under any one account. And I used a local city subreddit a lot.
I’m still rocking a 49” Samsung LCD from like 2016. It does the job. Has 4K and HDR so I haven’t felt a big need to upgrade. There’s still so much non-HDR 1080p content coming out even today
Thank you. I was curious about this too and casually interested, but now realize I don't want the liabilities for DMCA, NSFW that people have mentioned.
Did you ever have that feeling on reddit of "I better word my post just right, otherwise AutoMod will take it down"? Some subs had such strict auto moderating that it was a crap shoot to post something. Not so here. I know there's value in moderation, and I'm sure Lemmy/kbin/etc. will add more of it with time. But, for now, it...
Can ActivityPub save the internet? (www.theverge.com)
Imagine a world without platform lock-in, where no ban or billionaire could take down your social network. That’s what ActivityPub has planned.
Just got this on my 11 year account right after signing into my alt and deleting.
Is anyone else tired of “employee engagement”?

This feels like a forced reddit detox.

I've felt more compelled to contribute to the "Fediverse" than I ever did on Reddit.
Over the last week or so I have noticed that I have a lot more fun engaging in discussions on here as opposed to reddit....

Just realized something I *don't* miss about reddit: post anxiety
