This is what those who have never experienced genuine depression will never understand. Everything can be going perfectly in your life, but you still can't find the energy to bring color back into your world no matter what you do. The overwhelming numbness just eats away at you, and you withdraw even further. Some of us may even turn to substances to just feel SOMETHING, regardless of how fleeting the escape may be, and how much worse we know we'll feel afterwards. You are unable to see the light at the end of the tunnel, the future is bleak, and you will die alone in a world that doesn't give a fuck, so what's the point?
So you finally find the courage to confide in somebody, and they tell you that you just need to "get past it, think positive!" and that they also "get depressed too"... and the worst part is, you are unable to describe to them in any way how it truly feels, because they've genuinely never felt it themselves, so now you worry that you're just coming across as dramatic, furthering the desire to withdraw and keep your thoughts to yourself.
I'm currently going through a depressed period, if it isn't obvious. I'll be okay in another week, but it's fucking horrible, and I wouldn't wish this on anybody.
They really need to rename it something that actually sounds as serious as it is, like ExecutiveDysfunctionDisorder (EDD) or some shit. My entire life was being played on Legendary difficulty due to no diagnosis until I was in my late fucking 20's, and I was finally given medication and an understanding of all the ways my own shithouse brain has been holding me back.
I'm now slowly catching up on life. It fucking sucks.
The business arm of Raspberry Pi is preparing to make an initial public offering (IPO) in London. CEO Eben Upton tells Ars that should the IPO happen, it will let Raspberry Pi’s not-for-profit side expand by “at least a factor of 2X.” And while it’s “an understandable thing” that Raspberry Pi enthusiasts could be...
I just leave my feed on All to see a bit of everything, but it drives me nuts when I see someone either post the same link in quick succession to 3+ instances at the same time, so they all end up next to each other on my feed, or you post several related posts (photography, articles etc) within a few minutes so your name and all...
By corporate culture I mean like what you see with GoogleYouTube/MetaFacebook/etc. to accommodate advertisers and influence people to engage and acknowledge adverts. In turn, by adapt/adjust I mean how some people bleep curses out like fuck/shit/etc., say unalive instead of commit suicide/kill oneself, and make notorious video...
Agreed. It actually terrifies me, because the implications are huge on a cultural level with regards to feelings of autonomy, ability to ascertain when rules or social conditionings are inherently detrimental and should be ignored (or outright fought against), not to mention the erosion of critical thinking, the rampant dopamine regulation issues that'll follow the youngest members of society potentially for life, etc.
I am EXTREMELY worried for the young gen Z/gen Alpha cohort, as this kind of thing already seems so deeply-ingrained in their attitudes and acceptance of, quite frankly, bullshit corporate-driven cleanspeak, that I'm certain future governments are just rubbing their hands together waiting for an era where passing oppressive speech restrictions and destructive online privacy policies will be a certainty, assuming that by voting age, the youngest among us don't realize what they're unknowingly being influenced by and push back against it.
I know this post comes off as alarmist, but people have to realize that massive cultural shifts take place after, what at the time seem to be unimportant social attitudes or opinions, begin to take hold of a generation... and I'm personally very, very worried.
Depends on the Ford. imo Ford Australia's final two Falcon models were unkillable, and contained an engine everyone's now wanting to get their hands on due to its bulletproof construction and potential for huge, cheap power.
Source; I've owned an FG Falcon from new which now has over 450,000km on it and never once had any issues (also thousands of taxi drivers over 15 years can't be wrong.)
As someone who lives in country Australia, it's quite common here too. A popular pastime among the young guys out here is to jump into their ute, load up their guns, and go down the highway shooting every street sign they see. I usually hear it every Friday and Saturday night.
I'm just using the default GrapheneOS SMS app, but it's concerning seeing the number of these FOSS apps lately adding major privacy invasive permission changes. Are there a few big companies buying them up for a quick buck, or what?
Pipepipe is an amazing newpipe fork(which is a youtube client) that constantly recieves updates and is stable and relaible.I didn't see much love for this app anywhere so thought i should promote it.
I definetly recommend it. It also has many more settings , features than newpipe . It is in the main repo . Just search pipepipe .
