Benzene is among the pollutants gas stoves emit into homes, Stanford University researchers show. The toxin is linked to a higher risk of leukemia and other blood cell cancers.
I grew up with electric, and was well into my thirties when I was renting a house with a gas stove. I thought it was fine, but the smell was off putting. Never really wanted one after that.
I had that demo disk back in the day, it was neat to play with, and amazing for only 1.44MB.
We were working with a PC based, industrial controller that used QNX Neutrino (IIRC), with an Isagraf HMI. That was over twenty years ago. I can't even remember the name of the controller. It was pretty buggy and underdeveloped compared to Allen Bradley, Modicon or Siemens stuff, I do remember that.
I've never been a fan of dogs. They make me nervous. I like animals, but dogs are just too needy, destructive, and abrasive. Working dogs are fine, but pets/companion dogs really bother me....
"Pet perfection" lol. as long as you don't mind cat hair over everything, having furniture shredded, listening to them yak up a furball on the carpet at 4am, using the litterbox then walking over food prep surfaces, then I guess sure.
That Reddit will not shut down. It will take the hit and go on and probably make at least some money. Only, it will be a much different place, more like Facebook or Instagram, in that it will be full of ads and less specific information....
I was on Fark for tennish years until I wasn't interested in the direction they were taking and moved to Reddit where I eventually made a profile. Now, some 11 years later, Reddit is going in a direction I'm not interested in, so I've moved to kbin.
Whether Reddit (and Fark) carry on is irrelevant to me.
I was waiting for the TransAlp, but they're not bringing it to Canada this year, if ever. So I looked around, and this came up with heavy discounts. I thought about the KTM 890 Adventure, but they're not exactly giving them away, and it's not like KTM have a stellar reliability reputation either, though I haven't had issues with mine.
Shaft drive, cruise control in a reasonably sized package at a heavily discounted price made it hard to pass on. We'll see if I made a mistake or not. So far, so good though.
Funny thing about the colour, the dealer said they sold the monochrome ones at a pretty steady rate, but people really didn't seem to get on with the multi-coloured ones, this colour in particular would just sit on the lot. I rather like it, but I'm used to loud colours, I guess.
From what I can gather from forums and owners, for the most part they seem to be decently reliable, if not quite up to Japanese standards. It's a pushrod engine, and sitting transverse, servicing the valves should be pretty simple.
I'm 178cm, and my knees are nowhere close to the cylinders, sitting or standing. It's apparently about 220kgs wet, so not something you really want to pick up a lot, but manageable. I still have to get crashbars on it, so haven't done much offroad yet.
The last dual sport I had was a kick-start 1990 DR650S. With a built suspension and DOT knobbies, it was decent, but pretty heavy off road. There's a lot to be said for light weight on trails.
I was initially introduced to Mastodon a few years ago by a close friend and picked up on it quickly given the benefits of not having to deal with advertising, or being shown what a mega-corporation thought I should have to see through algorithms. I have since found a great instance over on cupoftea.social that promotes quality...
I was originally on Fark.com for about 10 years, then Reddit for 11. Reddit has been deteriorating for a while, lots of astroturfing and bot activity, plus the random craziness at the top. Enough is enough.
I had been looking at Mastodon as a possible replacement, then Lemmy. The latest fiasco brought up people mentioning kbin. So here I am.
I'm an old fart, so it might take me a while to figure this out, but I think I'm getting it.

Dunno if this is on-topic for the community or not....
I'm tired of dogs. I just don't like them.

OC There is a lesson to be learned here
TL;DR: We should bring blogs (self-publishing) back instead of putting all our knowledge into other people's websites....
The harsh truth is...

How can I block all Lemmygrad content? As a user can I block an instance? Are there instances that already block them?
Yes, so I want to browse all but actually control the content, block instances, block keywords, etc... currently using Jerboa, but not married to it.

OC How did you end up finding kbin? Did you migrate here from Reddit?
