rhythmisaprancer, to technology in Tiktok's most popular painter sends followers after art critic for negative review of gallery exhibit
rhythmisaprancer avatar

It wasn't even a negative review, it was constructive criticism.

rhythmisaprancer, to space in Sci-fi inspired tractor beams are real, and could solve a major space junk problem

This headline is a lie: a prototype is 10 years off according to the article 😐 cool research tho. Seems lacking in the practical application side.

rhythmisaprancer, to politics in You’re more likely to go to prison for exposing animal cruelty than for committing it
rhythmisaprancer avatar

This has been true for a long time. Upton Sinclair, writing over 100 years ago about improving working conditions (for humans) ended up missing the mark and the end result was food quality regulations. Now, folks are trying to expose animal cruelty but end up getting stronger protections for corporations 🤡 we just can't seem to care about living things 🙁

rhythmisaprancer, to mildlyinfuriating in Putting on your seatbelt and not using your phone while driving is now considered a "challenge"?
rhythmisaprancer avatar

In my mind, it is a challenge when I have to navigate a touch screen to change the heat setting on this new work vehicle 🤨

Judging by what I hear from the Republican-voting folks around me, unless this airs on Newsmax or OAN (etc) the people who need to see it, won't.

rhythmisaprancer, to asklemmy in What silly inconvinient stuff would you outlaw if you could?
rhythmisaprancer avatar

There is so much unnecessary advertising in my country. Billboards, commercials on a screen at fuel stations, placards on park benches. None of it has any tangible benefit to regular people. None.

This is the definition of full send. Incredible gesture.

rhythmisaprancer, to privacyguides in Perfectly legal for cars to harvest your texts, call logs
rhythmisaprancer avatar

This, and the other things I read about (like subscriptions for heated seats) are what will lead to some bizarre third party hack market for cars. Instead of taking a new vehicle to a place for custom pinstriping or whatever, folks will get them privatized.

rhythmisaprancer, to news in Summer-like conditions with record temperatures lead to first Wisconsin tornadoes in February

I am noticing a slow increase in conservative folks and their ability to accept climate change, and even to change themselves, bit I live in a very remote area where they depend on water and such from the land. They will still vote for Trump, tho. I can at least have a conversation with them, but it takes SO MUCH TIME to really win people over, and we don't have that time. Most of these people, i think it will be another five years before I get then on my side. At least they listen, I guess?

This title is so misrepresentative that it borders on being a lie.

rhythmisaprancer, to fuckcars in Why does everyone shit on bycicles but never on cars???
rhythmisaprancer avatar

Haha no, nothing like that. We were riding on a narrow, windy, river road in the mountains. No ability for cars to pass, but many places for slow moving vehicles to move o er and not even have to stop! Essentially, they wanted the cars to share the road with them but they wouldn't share with the cars. Most people in that area don't care to pause, but after passing multiple pullouts they can become irritable.

I know this is fuckcars but that particular situation was, for me, untenable.

rhythmisaprancer, to fuckcars in Why does everyone shit on bycicles but never on cars???
rhythmisaprancer avatar

I don't have the answer, but about 10 years ago I was invited to go on a group ride. I'm more of a commuter, but have done longer rides. Anyway, the behavior of the folks I was with made me never want to ride with others again. It was terrible! I think that is why pedal bikes get lumped into this scenario. You could replace the pickup with a Porsche and I think it would be the same scene.

rhythmisaprancer, to kbinMeta in Kbin badly needs a facelift

I don't personally have any issues with the website on mobile, I wonder if it could be browser related? I'm also not expecting perfection from something that hasn't been around very long, and never was on reddit so have nothing to compare it to.

I think you have valid points about "dealing" and "learning" and for some, that will be a turnoff. For me, it is an adventure 🙂
