Attack on Titan season 1 is 10 years old, which is kind of incredible. Also Magi came out later in the year. I never finished Magi but I remembered really liking the beginning....don't really remember why I dropped it. I like this format, I hope it gets more interaction.
Ah, you must be in AU. We got Magi a bit earlier in the US. I wonder if that's related to you dropping it: I remember it being a very strong series, but it's always more fun to watch with others.
And yep, pretty much every item in this list got a "Nooo… that was 10 years ago?!" from me. I think the covid period permanently addled my sense of time.
I read this article the day it was posted. Tonight I managed to sit down and watch Aku no Hana in its entirety.
Aku no Hana quick description: Resident Best Girl Candidate Sawa Nakamura, self-proclaimed deviant, loner and sociopath, binds our milquetoast MC, Takao Kasuga, into a contract where they both explore the deviant sides of their souls together via acts of social rebellion. Eerie rotoscoping, soundtrack, concept, sense of looming doom, and secondhand cringe rivaling and surpassing NHK ni Youkoso at times made this a memorable and unique anime.
I was captivated by it at first but by the end I felt that it fizzled into nothingness. This anime also didn't do itself any favors by teasing a season 2 during the final episode, because 10 years later, we can all see that it ended up as a financial failure, selling something like <300 BDs in Japan.
It's absolutely worth watching if you are interested in unique anime and find value in that sort of thing, even if you aren't entertained on the surface by it, which is how I felt - I appreciated watching it, though I got little personal enjoyment from it.
