If convincing sexbots/androids were to come to market, would you give up on real women entirely?

No but I would buy one to serve as a maid. Take off the breasts and face plate and set it to work. Sexbots will be hugely liberating for everyone in that regard. If the outdated concept of “women’s work” were anthro’d into a person, sex bots would double-tap it in the head right out the box.

Can I have both?

I think we aren’t that far away from AI companions. We already had Replika, and AI research did a leap forward this year. For simple conversations and roleplay, we’re already there.

Now we need affordable androids. I would like something like Boston Dynamics’ Atlas that can do a backflip but I’m pretty sure i can’t even afford their dog robot.

Concerning the ‘sexbot’: If your main concern is sex: I don’t think you need that much scifi for sex. There are dolls made from silicone. Maybe buy one of those in the meantime. I doubt they have any advanced robotics included, but this may not be necessary for this task (YMMV). I think we need to wait quite some time before they can do a backflip or fetch coffee.

Doubtful. A real person potentially would fuck me for free. A robot like that is gonna be expensive. This is the same logic that keeps me from going to hookers.

Two things to consider are:

1. In my hypothetical, I did say that these were androids which could convincingly emulate personalities and human behavior. In other words, they would be capable of fulfilling psychological and emotional sides of a relationship.

2. The dating scene is particularly rough for men at the moment for various reasons. The internet's effect on social activities magnifies that, and the shift to work-from-home has made it worse.

Lol no, I'm quite happy being married to a real woman. Even before I was married, dating was never so hard that I'd replace it with a sexbot. Younger me probably would have had one for when I was home alone and bored, but not to replace real women.
