@utopify_org I think many probably do not even think about that (yet). But there is in general so much to discover and learn in the context of Linux and so the joy of discovering alternative shells still lies ahead for those users. 😊️
@amadeus I’m a big fan of fish. It does ctrl+r automatically, and has syntax highlighting by default. For scripting, bash. For general CLI-ing, Fish. 🐠
@amadeus Oh My Zsh made my terminal so slow one day, that it annoyed me.
I started from scratch and configured zsh only with the stuff I needed. Since then it's just faster than ever and I figured out if you start zsh as a daemon, all other terminal windows will react faster, too.
@amadeus It might depend on how fast you need a terminal window.
I need it ultra fast, because I've a shortcut to open it and after the shortcut was triggered, I instantly start typing. It's only a fraction of a second for me.
Before it took like a second to load the terminal and the first chars I typed haven't been received, which was super annoying, because it took more time to retype everything every time.
@utopify_org Ah, this I can understand. Now I know what you mean. I sometimes also have a delay of let's say 300 ms or so before I can start using a session.
