.li, tabby cat: my turn now - shut down your mac! 😾
.li, getigerte Katze: Ich bin jetzt dran! Schalte den Mac aus! 😾

EmperorHenry,

Shut down your Mac and get a real computer that runs on windows or a Linux distro of your choosing

QubesOS is pretty good

@EmperorHenry
Brilliant idea! Because clearly, a 'real' computer only runs on Windows or Linux, right? I mean, who needs sleek design, user-friendly interfaces, and a seamless ecosystem when you can have the joy of constant system updates and driver compatibility issues? And QubesOS, oh yes, because managing multiple virtual machines just makes everything so much simpler. Thank you for enlightening me on the path to true computing nirvana!

EmperorHenry,

@evelynefoerster

By all means, keep using MAC and keep having zero control over the data you submit to them

QubesOS is more complicated, yes, but it allows you to compartmentalize all of your different software and the data associated with said software.

With MAC and all other apple devices, you always have an AI going through your personal files and you can't that off or control it in any way.

I know in summary, Qubes OS is an interesting and innovative project that addresses security concerns by adopting a unique approach to compartmentalization. Its suitability depends on individual needs and preferences, with a focus on security and a willingness to invest time in learning its specific features.
But IMO - there is no system which does not collect any data - whether obviously or covertly.

EmperorHenry,

@evelynefoerster @paulfoerster

With Windows and Linux you can control what information you send and there's loads of choices for making that happen on windows and most distros of Linux

This was, this is and will remain a religion war between users of these or those applications. And, if you really want to be invisible, you should not even be using a computer - IP addresses are essential so you can communicate ...so there you are, you're leaving footsteps, I'm leaving footsteps, so we both can be traced 🤔 🙃

In before “well if that’s too complicated you probably shouldn’t be using computers at all”

Users who prioritize privacy and control may find QubesOS to be a suitable option, while those who value user-friendly interfaces and seamless integration may prefer macOS. It's essential to weigh the pros and cons based on your personal needs and priorities.

@evelynefoerster "I was told there would be . I don't know why I expected more from hooman."

@mrbruno
Oh, I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience. I'll be sure to inform the feline overlords that their scheduled has been postponed due to the unpredictable whims of hoomans. I'm sure they'll understand and graciously reschedule their napping and grooming sessions to accommodate our busy human schedules. After all, who wouldn't want to adjust their plans for the sake of our priorities? 🤨
