@parismarx Yeah, when I was reading that review of the Beijing auto show I was astounded by how good the production cars looked compared to the concept/pre-release cars US automakers were putting out there. It reminds me very much of how complacency in the US auto industry in the 1970s led to the Japanese cars becoming preferred options. I imagine we did protectionist stuff like this too.

@hankg There were tariffs and the US got Japan to agree to a cap on the number of cars exported to the US market.
