The stark issue behind the ONS' problems with employment figures is the decline in responses to the Labour Force Survey from around 50% to around 15% in a decade.

People seem unwilling to offer their time to be interviewed for the data on working;

this maybe an increased suspicion of 'researchers' & surveillance by the state; a mismatch between interviewers working days & the subjects; off-the-books works, or an overhang from lockdown(s)?

Next: paying interviewees?

@ChrisMayLA6 You can guarantee that the current government would also consider interview payments as an income source, which could mess up no end of benefit payments...
